Saving a Recorded TV Show

Postby herbmmmm » Sat Sep 15, 2018 9:52 am

I have a 2 TB usb hard drive attached to my Nvidia Shield. All my recorded tv shows are stored on this hard drive. How hard is it to remove one of these shows and place it into a folder on my computer? If it can be done could someone give me the steps?

Thanks

On your Shield, go to the following:
Settings -> Storage & reset -> Transfer files over local network

Note the Username and Password. You'll need them to map the Shield's drives in Windows.

On your Windows machine, open a File Explorer window. Scroll down and click on Network on the left. On the right, you should see your Shield under the Computer section. Double-click on Shield and you should see the Shield's drives (you may be prompted for username and password here, so use the Username and Password you noted above). Double-click on your Shield's USB disk. The recorded programs are at:
Android -> data -> com.silicondust.view -> files -> HDHomeRun

Hope this helps.

You're quite welcome. Did you get the file copied to your computer?

My computer won't pair with Shield think it has to do with Bitdefender! Thanks for your help anyhow!

Alternatively, you can plug a flash drive or a portable hard drive into one of the USB ports on the Shield, mount it as external storage, then format it if needed. Then get an app like X-plore from the Play Store and use it to copy the file to the flash/hard drive. Once the file has been copied, unmount the flash/hard drive, unplug it, and plug it into your Windows machine.
