Is it different on 720p channels (ESPN) vs. 1080i (NBCSN, CBSSN, NFLN)?

Is the lag different on 720p sports channels like ESPN than it is on 1080i sports channels like NBCSN or YES? Or do they both look the same?

The reason for asking about the different channels is it most likely is a deinterlacing issue (today's boxes are built expecting non-interlaced h.264 content, even though h.264 can be interlaced, many frown upon the practice). So if it is only the 1080i channels that most likely is the issue and the playback hardware (though in cases like comcast it may also be their conversion from 1080i to 720p that messes things up before you even get the feed). I know I often can experience differences not only with box but also the TV the box is hooked up to (and in some cases the port the box is hooked up to on the TV) but in my case, though I can see such if I look for it, it only is "noticeable" (as in bordering on disturbing) on the tickers on the bottom and occasionally right to left action on high motion sports. Different people notice and describe the issue differently.

Please open the HDHomeRun app, press play/pause 13 times to bring up the settings screen, and turn on Send diagnostic information. Watch live TV on ESPN for 5 minutes, then reply back with the device ID for your HDHomeRun and we will check the logs.

no problem, will do when i get home. Also is there a way for you to set different channels to different refresh rates and picture quality? because i notice 2160p@30 works good for lets say certain channels, but then 2160p@60 is the one that works best for ESPN. I think it has something to do with the refresh rate and display settings. My 4k vizio tv starts to get static interference after a while on 2160p@60. Def has to do with display settings and my tv. I have this airtv player on my other 2 tvs and are perfect with no problem. only on this one tv.

Try set your Android box to 1080p@60 output. Most of these boxes doesn't have the power to render 4K video smoothly, including the MiBox3. Since your TV sources are only 1080 max and your TV should have no problem upscaling them to 4K. ESPN channels are 720P@60. When you down set your box to 2160p@30,you will feel laggy because half of the frames are lost. Even with 1080i channels, they are best viewed in 60Hz mode.

I totally agree the only Android TV box that I have found to be able to handle 4K@60FPS is the ShieldTV all my other boxes I set to 1080P 60FPS
