I think the days of DVR transcoding are behind us. Storage is cheap (even in the days of AI).

Why gigabit networking? There's no bandwidth starvation with the currently supported standards. Is the concern that future network infrastructure will discontinue support for 100 Mbps? I have no doubt that SiliconDust will implement support for gigabit networking when it's actually necessary.
