Lip Sync/Audio Off Since 20260710?
Re: Lip Sync/Audio Off Since 20260710?
Just FYI my issues are happening with the FireTv stick 4K 2nd gen. I'm think maybe wrongly that it is the broadcasters that have the issue.

I also live in the Phoenix metro area and am having precisely the same problem. You took the words right out of my mouth. Same channels and same description of what happens as you described in your first post. What I can add is that in addition to my Firestick, the same problem also occurs on my Windows 11 computer and Pixel phone. That's why I came to this forum. I have a non-4k Firestick from 2019. Since you have a new FireTV I wouldn't expect that buying a new Firestick would solve my problem.RTR wrote: Sat Aug 15, 2026 1:24 pmWould you or someone else please let me know how to submit logs to SD so we can resolve this issue? I don't want to feel I wasted $200 now. I had been a legacy ***** user for a long time, but their recent lack of support for an issue prompted me to purchase this HDHomeRun in June.geriakt wrote: Fri Aug 14, 2026 9:24 amYour log files provided to SD for your 2 ATSC 1.0 channels should help find that fix. It may be those channels require a codec you don't have on your fire stick and you are forced to use a software codec to transcode it in real time.RTR wrote: Fri Aug 14, 2026 7:49 am
That happens to me too but I really haven't brought it up since it's only 1 channel that I get (ATSC 3.0) from the Gila River Indian Reservation and I can use the FNX Fire TV App if I really want to watch something. The weird thing about my issue is that it seems to be now only channels 3 and 5 (and subs like 44.2) (ATSC 1.0) and those are all owned by Gray Media. Makes me wonder if they have some weird new encryption or flag set in their signal that HDHomeRun doesn't like. I have 3TV on in the background for the news right now as I'm typing this and it's happening. Still no callback.
Gemini says this: "The software update rolled out around July 10, 2026 (specifically app versions 20260707 through 20260710 and subsequent patches) introduced breaking regressions in how audio/video stream filtering and decoding timing are handled on client platforms like Fire TV and Windows.
The audio garbling, picture freezing, and resulting lip-sync drift happen in a loop because the app's internal pipeline stumbles when attempting to sync the audio timeline with the incoming video frames—particularly on interlaced 1080i streams like

CBS (Channel 5). It is a software-side decoding bug introduced by SiliconDust in their mid-July application update rather than a hardware failure or a station-side broadcast flag."
I have current versions installed so this hasn't been fixed by SD yet.
Re: Lip Sync/Audio Off Since 20260710?
There were no audio-video timing changes in the release for Windows.
The Android/Fire TV release changed to always use built-in "passthrough" style AC4 support, if present. We think this caused a issue on the new Onn Pro.
If the problem is specific to a channel we can investigate what the channel is doing.

A little update: SD tech support called today and told me that my issue is being specifically reported by other Phoenicians now. I was also told that the issue is currently being investigated. Apparently Gray updated transmitter equipment recently but is currently insisting that that isn't the issue. It sucks to be the first, but I finally feel validated. LOL
Re: Lip Sync/Audio Off Since 20260710?
We are in contact with KPHO/KTVK and the company that makes their encoder and all of us are looking at it. Some very unusual combination of things since the same equipment is in use at many other stations and the app has no sync issues with them.
Re: Lip Sync/Audio Off Since 20260710?
Update... there are two separate things going on, neither of which related to our 20260710 release. The 20260710 release is not related to the problem.
1) KPHO/KTVK changed encoders / encoder configuration. We are investigating to see if it is a broadcast side or player side issue.
2) The new 2026 model ONN 4K Pro built in audio AC4 codec seems to have a sync problem. Once we have fully confirmed the issue we will likely tell the app not to use the built in AC4 support on this ONN model until it is fixed by ONN.

Update 2:
KPHO: I found a recording from KPHO and observed the problem. A timestamp analysis suggests a broadcast issue that the app is not handling well. We are communicating with the station to fix the root problem, and in parallel we will review how the app does error recovery in this situation.
ONN 4K Pro: A unit is on its way to me... I should have it by the end of the week for testing.
