Have you tried fiddling with the local network permission some more? In my experience, that control has never worked 100% reliably at any point since Apple introduced it.

I don't like it. Please give us back the old .pkg installer instead of forcing us to just go to the App Store.

The actual installer part is really only needed for installing the command line tools (and doing a manual firmware update) and the DVR software. The HDHomeRun.app can be just copied over. It's up to Nick on how he wants to handle this, but if you e-mail support, we can send you the HDHomeRun.app file to copy over to your Mac.

Just understand that this won't automatically update, like the App Store version will. And it's literally the same code, code signed and all that.
