Re: New HDHomeRun Mac installer
I can successfully use the HDHomeRun through my iPhone, iPad, and an older FireStick, but I get the "No HDHomeRun tuners" found message on my M5 Macbook Pro running Tahoe 26.5.2. The local WiFi network is the same for all the devices including the Mac and HDHomeRun. I installed the app from the Mac App Store and also tried the new installer you mentioned but neither worked. My VPN is turned off. I went through several iterations of enabling/disabling the HDHomeRun app in Settings -> Privacy and Security -> Local Network. http://hdhomerun.local hangs and never connects. https://api.hdhomerun.com/discover which yields the following:
[
{
"DeviceID": "10AE1905",
"LocalIP": "192.168.68.50",
"BaseURL": "http://192.168.68.50",
"DiscoverURL": "http://192.168.68.50/discover.json",
"LineupURL": "http://192.168.68.50/lineup.json"
}
]
What am I missing?

Re: New HDHomeRun Mac installer
I ran into a similar issue recently. Do you use a custom DNS provider?ebaran wrote: Tue Jul 07, 2026 2:02 pm I can successfully use the HDHomeRun through my iPhone, iPad, and an older FireStick, but I get the "No HDHomeRun tuners" found message on my M5 Macbook Pro running Tahoe 26.5.2. Re: New HDHomeRun Mac installer
Can you reach the web interface via http://192.168.68.50 instead of hdhomerun.local?
Re: New HDHomeRun Mac installer
Yes, http://192.168.68.50 does reach the web interface.
To my knowledge, I am not using any special DNS interface. My WiFi for all the devices is a TP-Link mesh network that is hard-wired through my Verizon FIOS router.

Re: New HDHomeRun Mac installer
I seem to recall a similar issue when a Mac user had both wifi and ethernet interfaces active. If that is the case, try with just one active.
Re: New HDHomeRun Mac installer
Thanks. It's a reasonable theory, but I only have WiFi active. I do not have a hard-wired ethernet connection to this laptop so it must be something else.

Re: New HDHomeRun Mac installer
Is the HDHomeRun wired to one of the TP-Link nodes?
Re: New HDHomeRun Mac installer
Yes, the HDHomeRun is wired to the main TP-link node in the mesh network. It is the only device hard-wired to the ethernet. My Firestick, iPad, iPhone, and Mac laptop are all on WiFi on that mesh network.
Re: New HDHomeRun Mac installer
Do you have a USB ethernet adapter you could use to test something (probably the laptop) to see if it works that way vs. on wifi?
Re: New HDHomeRun Mac installer
I do. Is there anything besides hooking up the Ethernet and disabling WiFi you would like to me to try with the app?
Re: New HDHomeRun Mac installer
I just hooked up the ethernet, turned off WiFi, and tested the network connection via SpeedTest. The Mac app still can't find the device, whereas the other devices obviously still see it just fine.

Re: New HDHomeRun Mac installer
If you open Terminal and run:
Does it come up as the first hop?
What VPN software? Any third-party firewalls or other security software?
Code: Select all
traceroute 192.168.68.50What VPN software? Any third-party firewalls or other security software?
Re: New HDHomeRun Mac installer
I did go through the entire sequence of operations again. This time, toggling the Settings->Privacy & Security->Local Network switch for HDHomeRun did allow the app to work. I don't know what changed this time since that's at least the third time I've tried that.
It's a small point that might still be useful, but neither Safari or Chrome can see hdhomerun.local directly without using 192.168.68.50. That is a minor issue since I can access that from my other devices if needed instead of the Mac. If you still care, traceroute returns:
traceroute to 192.168.68.50 (192.168.68.50), 64 hops max, 40 byte packets
1 192.168.68.50 (192.168.68.50) 21.575 ms 3.780 ms 3.994 ms
I use Apple's firewall. I have the same issue when I turn the firewall off via the Settings app.
I have Mullvad VPN installed, but it has been off during all of these tests.
I use Sophos for virus protection. I also added both 192.168.68.50 and hdhomerun.local to Sophos' whitelist of "websites that you do not want Sophos Home to block".
