HDFX-4K turns flakey

Post by NatHillIV »

I have an HDFX-4K that has suddenly starting acting up.
HDHR config bombs out and says "ERROR:communication error"
I made sure everything was up to date, but it is still not right.
I am not smart enough to include a picture, but here's what I do know......
Hardware Model HDFX-4K
Firmware VErsion: 20260326
ATSC3-DRM SD20230420
Device ID 10ABA65B
MAC Address 00:18:DD:0A:BA:6B
IP Address 192.168.1.170 (static)
Subnet Mask 255.255.0
I checked the box Send diagnostic information.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do. It had worked perfectly as far as I know until tonight. Since 3 out of the 4 Indianapolis stations have DRM, I haven't used the SiliconDust tuner as much as I used to. Tonights FIFA game was on FOX, and it does NOT feature DRM. I hate another ATSC 3.0 that isn't anywhere as good as yours, but it can "sort of" handle DRM, so it's the tuner I am currently forced to use most often. Unfortunately.

We would like to get some diagnostic data:
  1. Please go to http://hdhomerun.local
  2. If it tells you that a firmware update is available, please install it
  3. Click System Status
  4. Check the Send diagnostic information box
  5. Go back one page
  6. Click Channel Lineup
  7. Click on Detect Channels
  8. After the scan finishes, open the HDHomeRun app
  9. Go into the app settings: the gear icon in the top right corner of the "Live/Recorded/Discover/Tasks" page
  10. Enable the option to "Send diagnostic information"
  11. Watch a problem channel for at least 10 minutes

Reply back to this post and we will check the logs

I'm afraid it's a goner. MAKE THAT WAS AFRAID!
Last night, it started by not receiving VHF channels. IT worked on UHF for a while. Now in HDHomeRun or HDCONFIG it can't find a single channel. I tried your suggestions, but I can'tbegin to complete them.
I certainly appreciate your offer, but it's beyond the capabilities of me (or my tuner) to begin to comply with your request.
Since I only receive only ONE ATSC 3.0 signal the HDHomeRun can use, I will simply replace my 4K unit with an old

HOLD THE PRESSES. For whatever reason, I went back to the tuner and rescanned the channels through HDHRCONFIG.
Now it works just fine. Even the one DRM encrypted ATSC3.0 Channel is showing me a perfect picture and sound of the FIFA world cup.
I GIVE UP. Electronics are going to be the death of me.

But all is well that ends well! THANK YOU
