fox issues
Re: fox issues
Yeah a lot of tropo in that part of the country today. I saw WPHL and WNJS in some of the scans too. Not even worth using those times of day as data points as WNYW is probably going to get beat up on by WPSJ-CD or even WMAR. Running at only 92.8kW puts WNYW at a huge disadvantage when the tropo gets going.

Re: fox issues
So I just removed the 2x 3db attenuators and installed a famp-6 attenuator on each tuner. please check my signal now. thanks.
Re: fox issues
Signal quality on Fox is still pretty bad. Could probably use another 3dB and maybe an LTE/5G filter.

Re: fox issues
I have also noticed signal quality issues during the world cup games that Fox is broadcasting. Prior to June, my Fox station was pretty rock solid at 100% signal quality. Now, it could be coincidence, and maybe tropo is actually to blame. In case you want to take a look, my device IDs are 10AAB199 and 10ABADC7.
So my question is: is it possible that signal quality could already be poor even before the signal hits the broadcast tower? In other words, could I have perfect reception (100% signal strength, perfect signal quality normally) but still have signal quality issues because of upstream signal quality issues?
p.s. I do notice signal problems more frequently with my RSNs (on CableCARD), which I attribute to live local broadcasts aired by networks with smaller budgets.

wow complete 180. I left my system alone for a few hours. didn't touch a thing and now I am getting signal quality in the 90s. this morning it was in the 50s. not sure what changed.
