fox issues

Post by techpro2004 »

I am a channels dvr user. I am having issues playing fox (5.1). It has been suggested that you take a look at my logs. I am crosslinking the thread here (https://community.getchannels.com/t/hdh ... pt/46581/6). my ids are 10AD4B3A and 10AD244C. I have enabled send diagnostics and have the channel playing now but it keeps freezing. thanks.

So according to the channels dvr forum "Your noise floor is too high and SNQ (Signal to Noise) is dropping." My antenna is aimed directly at nyc so I am not sure how to fix this. My guess is fox is doing something sneaky due to the world cup. How do we fix this? thanks.

Out of curiosity, do you see the same behavior (not the error messages, but the viewing freezes) if you use the native HDHomeRun app?

It seems to act up in the hdhr app also but I noticed while they are playing soccer it seems fine but when it goes to commercial or other content is airing, it gets jerky for a few seconds every min or so.

You are talking about WNYW I take it? Do the subchannels 5.2 - 5.5 have problems too? If so, it's a reception problem.

Use the hdhomerun_config_gui to look at WNYW, real channel 27. If you see the Symbol Quality bouncing around you are getting uncorrectable errors causing the breakups and need to work on improving your reception, if there is no temporary thing going on such as nearby trees whipping around in the wind.

That program is found in the Software for Windows bundle.

Are you using an amplified antenna or amplified splitter? The signal coming into the two units is very hot, and that might be over driving the HDHomeRun's own internal low-noise amplifier.

I am using this antenna (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B94KX7GM?re ... n_title_13)

the signal comes out of a power inserter and then goes into a 2 way splitter then my hdhrs

I ordered 2x 3db attenuators it will be here on sunday in the meantime is it safe to use my hdhrs or will I burn them out?

thanks.
