Playback of DVR recording suddenly stops

ISSUE: When watching a recording I will randomly and frequently experience sudden stoppage of playback and the app will return to the "Episodes" page of the recorded series. The app will also fail to remember where I was in the playback and I have to start back from the beginning and fast forward to the spot it stopped at. It does not consistently stop at the same spots. The recordings will usually work fine for about 10 minutes or so before the stoppage happens again.

I was experiencing this problem earlier in the year when I was watching recorded NFL games. It seems to only occur while watching a recording that is in-progress. This is definitely happening while watching World Cup matches that are in-progress. And I can confirm that I was able to watch the entirety of the USA match without error on my Fire TV Stick, and that was also a completed recording.

I have the following equipment:
CONNECT
FLEX 4K
SERVIO (DVR recordings are on this)
Fire TV Cube 3rd Gen (encountered the problem consistently on this device)
Fire TV Stick 4K (have not experienced the issue on this device)

I don't think that it is related to my Fire TV Cube, since that is a new device and it had been happening on my other Fire TV Stick that the Cube replaced. I had originally reported that issue five months ago on Reddit, but then I stopped experiencing it. Now that I am frequently watching in-progress recordings again, I am encountering the issue again.

That is caused by a timeout where the player hasn't received video through the network for 10 seconds.

First, make sure you have the latest HDHomeRun app installed on your Fire Cube as earlier versions had a shorter timeout.

Is the Cube connected via WiFi or Ethernet? Is it possible it is on the edge of WiFi reception and struggling to get data through?

Thanks for the reply. I'll double check the app version, but it should be the latest, since I only just upgraded to the cube a couple weeks ago.

The cube is ethernet hardwired via a USB 3.0 to 1gbps cable, going through a network switch that the SERVIO is also connected to.
