Before going any further on this I made a couple observations. Maybe there might be some suggestions here.
My main TV is using an Apple 4K, hardwired ethernet. This is where I am having the issue with the A/V sync. I replaced the HDMI cable to eliminate that. Yes it is the latest High Speed version. I played with the audio and video settings but didn't make any difference.
I had a ROKU on an older TV. I tried the recording there and it seemed to be ok. The A/V was in sync at the same location I had issue with on the Apple TV. So it appears the issue might be associated with the Apple TV??? I am going to temporarily move the ROKU to the same TV that the Apple is on and see what happens there.
But if any of this sheds any light and anyone has any suggestions as to what I might try next, I would appreciate it.
EDIT: Ok, moved the ROKU to the same TV as the Apple. Playback seemed to be OK again on the ROKU. So definitely something to do with the Apple TV unit. I changed HDMI ports just to be sure but no change there.
As a side note, I played the recording on my IPAD. Same issue with the A/V sync. So it seems there is something about the Apple Apps maybe?
Everything is up to date on firmware, etc.

OK, it's definitely something to do with the Apple system. I tried 3 different ROKU's, 3 different TV's, including the one the Apple is on. In all cases the ROKU worked fine. No issues with A/V sync. But the Apple is consistently getting off.
Any Thoughts from anyone?
EDIT: Just to clarify, I don't have any issues with any of the other apps on my Apple. Just the HDHomerun.

Re: Using MAC for Storage
Please get one of the affected recordings to us so we can test it. If we see the same issue then our engineering team can look into it and see why it's happening. We prefer a shorter one just because it takes less time to upload and download, but an hour long show is fine if you don't have any shorter ones that have the issue.

Sent email with link to file. Sorry it's an hour program but all I had. It is the one I was doing all the testing with the various devices.

Did you get an automatic reply with a 6 digit ticket number in it (should start with a 2)? If so, what was the number?

Re: Using MAC for Storage
Been playing around with this for some time. As long as I use the ROKU for playback I am not having any issues.
The original intent of this post was regarding using a MAC for storage. I just now started playing with that again. Finally got that working.
My question now, is it better to use the local USB drive on the Flex? Or use the MAC? Or does it really make any difference?

Re: Using MAC for Storage
The Mac can support recording from more than 4 tuners at once and delivering to more than 4 devices at once.
The downside is the Mac must be running 24/7.

Re: Using MAC for Storage
I'm gonna try using the MAC for awhile and see if that makes any difference.
Is there any way to copy a couple recordings I have on a USB drive that was connected to the Flex to the MAC? There are a couple I haven't watched yet and would have to plug the USB drive back in to get them otherwise.

Re: Using MAC for Storage
The filesystem on the USB drive is XFS, which Macs do not read natively. There's apparently some FUSE related projects that may allow you to read the XFS filesystem, but I have no experience with any of them. Try searching for "macos read xfs" in a search engine.jwwhite001 wrote: Thu May 07, 2026 7:41 am Is there any way to copy a couple recordings I have on a USB drive that was connected to the Flex to the MAC?
The better way to get at the files on that USB drive is with a Linux system. If you have a Linux system (or perhaps have a friend with one), use it to mount the drive and then transfer them to the Mac or perhaps a flash drive. Another option would be to use something like VMWare or Parallels to create a Linux virtual machine on your Mac, and then transfer the files.
Re: Using MAC for Storage
If it's only a couple, you can just connect the drive back to the FLEX, go to http://hdhomerun.local/, click on Recorded Files, then the show, then one of the episodes. Let it finish downloading, then repeat for the others. Best to just do one at a time. Once downloaded, move them into the appropriate recording location on the Mac and it should pick them up and make them available. If not, make sure that the file extension is .mpg and not something else like .mpeg or .ts, as some browsers will change it when downloading.
