Recording stops before end of show

For the last month I've had multiple times when the record ends prematurely. I looked at those instances on my laptop where I can see the files on my Nvidia Shield and the files are accordingly smaller. My Shield has a WD My Passport 4TB external drive which is 70% fully. If no one else is having a similar problem, my first assumption would be to copy the contents of my current My Passport to a new drive and substitute that drive. If that solves the problem I can run the bad drive on SpinRite and see if it can be corrected. Any suggestions before I ask Grok what the step by step instructions are?

The Android DVR still defaults to keeping a trailing log that I can check, so if you give me a specific example then I can see if that recording logged an error.

Seems like the drive isn't keeping up. It gets an excessive lag warning when trying to write the data. We know there are bottleneck issues when using the most recent versions of Android as the DVR, but normally you can still get away with at least two or three simultaneous recordings, and this looks like the only recording happening at the time. I do think it's most likely that the hard drive starting to fail, but if it's not that, then maybe the file system bottleneck on Android is worse than we thought.
