AI integration

Post by OregonDuck »

Seems to me that the next evolution of HDHomeRun would enable changing the video and/or audio on-the-fly.

Remember black & white colorization? Well this is that, on steroids.

So: replace one specific actor with another. Or one specific voice with another.

Also, it'd be an interactive conversation with the AI that was watching what you were watching, and you could pause and ask it questions.

That would lead to changing the plot. That'd be like Black Mirror "Bandersnatch" but it'd be unique.

Any other interesting necessary integrations with AI that will occur?

I apologize. I'm a nonlinear thinker. I've jumped ahead too far.

On-the-fly video editing would require a crazy amount of CPU and who cares about Moore's Law right?

Really though the better idea is an AI pal who watches with you and does MST3K with you. AI plays the straight man and can predict what you can make funny.

“It all started when my HDHomeRun froze during a baseball game.
And instead of getting mad, I thought…
What if it apologized?
What if it explained itself?
What if it riffed on the situation like a robot friend who’s seen too much?”

The HDHomeRun DVR isn't a person. There is no self.

That doesn't stop some people from talking to it (or to themselves)

"The Orville" season 3 clarifies what I mean; the doctor literally marries an android.

The HDHomeRun DVR is exactly what YOU want it to be, Nick. Belief is reality in this context.

And if you don't do it, someone else will. Silicon Dust has always had superior quality software and I'd prefer that it were you.
