'404 Not Found' on a black screen on TCL Google TV

Since a week or two ago (started around 3/15/26), when I try to open the HDHomeRun app, I have occasionally gotten a '404 Not Found' error in the upper left corner of an otherwise black screen on my TCL Google TV. When it happens, I have tried switching to another app like AppleTV and then back to HDHomeRun but it still displays the 404 error. Several times, I have tried to restart the TV using the Settings menu to clear the error, but that causes the TV to go unresponsive and never recover. I have to unplug the TV and plug back in to get it to turn on afterward. Doing the power reset does clear the error, but it is a super annoying problem that seems to be happening every other day or so. I have also tried to uninstall and reinstall HDHomeRun, and HDHR also upgraded to a new version yesterday, but neither of these actions fixed the problem. It is still happening on an intermittent basis.

An additional data point is that when this happens, the HDHomeRun app still works fine on my Mac and my Android phone, so the HDHR hardware tuner and DVR functionality are working fine when the error occurs.

More data points... It happened again this evening. Once this 404 is displayed, the HDHomeRun app is dead. I was able to recover it by going into All Settings on the Google TV, then Apps, then selecting the HDHomeRun app and doing a Force stop. After doing that, the 404 is cleared and the app works normally. This leads me to deduce that the problem is with the HDHomeRun app on the Google TV, not the receiver or the Google TV itself FWIW...

What steps led up to the 404 error?

I turn on the TV and try to open the HDHR app. I haven't been able to determine any other conditions or sequence of events that will cause the error.

I’m having the same issue as well. Started Saturday for me, 3 days ago. I opened HDHomerun app on my Google TV Streamer 4k and there was an update or firmware update I think… I didn’t pay much attention but just clicked ok. I got the 404 Not Found after the update I think. I uninstalled the app, installed it, and that solved the issue.

Today, opened the app, 404 not found. I did the force stop and opened it again, started working.

Something has changed.

I figured out today that if I exit the HDHR app on the Google TV, the 404 error does not occur. In other words, it seems that leaving the app running in the background is what can randomly cause the 404 error when returning to the app, which then requires going into the TV settings and force stopping the HDHR app.

Same here, Chromecast with Google TV, Motorola Edge 40 Neo and Homatics R4 Plus. I get a pop-up in HDHomeRun app on Chromecast with google tv to install a new firmware, no problem on it, HDHomeRun app was update by play store after firmware and the 404 error start. In app init i get stuck for some time in init dvr and after the 404 error. I dont have any Dvr storage in my network. Force Close not always solve, most time i need to force Close, clean app data for it work again. It is happens in all my Android devices, Android TV 14 in chromecast with google tv and homatics, Android 15 on Phone. I will try it in Windows and see. I hope Silicon Dust fix it soon.
