Thanks for your quick reply. I look forward to any updates on the Roku side that will fix the recording playback fast-forward freezing issue. As stated, I have the same freezing issue with recording playback on Android OS despite it coming from a different source as far as code/software goes. What is in the works to fix this bug for us Android OS users? I have a Google 4k Streamer for reference. Thanks in advance for any help.NedS wrote: Thu Mar 19, 2026 4:02 pmIt won't be the same issue, though. Roku uses their own internal video player, and none of the apps have control over that. On other platforms (iOS, Android, Google TV, Fire TV, Apple TV, Windows, Mac, etc) we can write our own video player code.juddagain wrote: Thu Mar 19, 2026 7:46 am I have the same fast-forward freezing issue and have reported it months ago. I too have a Google 4k Streamer that this freezing issue happens on. But I also have multiple Roku TVs that exhibit the exact same problem. So it is not exclusively a problem with that Google hardware. I never got a reply on this issue after reporting? Any updates?
We are looking into some recording playback issues on Roku that we might be able to fix, in how we present the data to that internal player. I'm not sure on the full details, but just that it's currently being looked at, and seems to be affecting a lot of recordings for Roku users.

The Google Streamer 4K was fixed a few days ago (or more specifically we told the app not to use the buggy MPEG2 system codec). You should no longer see it freeze when seeking.juddagain wrote: Fri Mar 20, 2026 7:59 am Thanks for your quick reply. Sometimes When I am fast forwarding thru commercials on ROKU the screen will go blank but the timeline is still there. Going forward and backwards works with the timeline showing the movement but no video. Exiting recording and restarting doesn't work. Exiting app doesn't work. I end up changing to Apple TV and can watch from there. But going back to the ROKU it still doesn't work. Haven't tried a complete power off yet but may do that the next time it happens.
This doesn't happen all the time but often enough to be annoying.
Should point out I'm on Roku Ultra.
