I have the same fast-forward freezing issue and have reported it months ago. I too have a Google 4k Streamer that this freezing issue happens on. But I also have multiple Roku TVs that exhibit the exact same problem. So it is not exclusively a problem with that Google hardware. I never got a reply on this issue after reporting? Any updates?

It won't be the same issue, though. Roku uses their own internal video player, and none of the apps have control over that. On other platforms (iOS, Android, Google TV, Fire TV, Apple TV, Windows, Mac, etc) we can write our own video player code.

We are looking into some recording playback issues on Roku that we might be able to fix, in how we present the data to that internal player. I'm not sure on the full details, but just that it's currently being looked at, and seems to be affecting a lot of recordings for Roku users.

The Google Streamer 4K was fixed a few days ago (or more specifically we told the app not to use the buggy MPEG2 system codec). You should no longer see it freeze when seeking.

It does in fact seem like the replay freezing problem on the Google 4k is fixed! Hurray!!
