Thomson Streaming Box 270UK Plus and HD Homerun App

Hello,
I have just bought a Thomson Streaming Box 270UK Plus here in the U.K. The HD Homerun app will work for a minute or so, but then the picture will freeze and the audio will continue. If I change channels, it comes up with Audio only on the channel. If I reboot the device, it works for a short time again and then the same issue happens. It is working on Firesticks, my PC with no issue and Plex also works fine.

Any ideas?

Once you get the Audio only message, if you exit the HDHomeRun app and go to another video app like Netflix or Prime Video, does video play in that?

Sorry for the delay, combination of work and family life, I have reverted back to a firestick as this was still occurring. But all my apps on the Onn/Thompson box work fine, it is just HDHomerun where it gets choppy, loses video and goes to audio only.

Very strange.
I have the streaming box on my desk if you would like me to do some testing/logs.

so I have just updated the firmware today and now I am getting audio break up along with the same issue. Other apps are all fine. It seems to be ITV1 HD that has the main issues.

I have enabled uploading diagnostics for some time if you can spot anything.

Can you please tune ITV1 HD and leave it playing for 10 minutes...

And can you check BBC2 HD and BBC3 HD during the World Cup Qualifiers at 19:45 on Thursday and see if they also have the same issue?

Hi, I will leave it running today and switch between BBC 1/2 HD in 15 min intervals.

so, I started the ITV Stream at 11:27 GMT and by 11:30 the screen is frozen with the sound playing. the sound break up is ok now. When I change channel to BBC 2 HD, it is a black screen with the Audio Only message until I go up to Channel 4 HD and then the picture and sound return. If I go straight to BBC 1/2 HD from C4 using the guide there is the same problem with the channel playback. ** Channel 5 HD also seems to lose the picture **, so this is worse than a few days ago.

Also, noticed that ITV HD is also causing issues in Plex with it losing the video and I have to start it again. Other channels seem ok.

So it seems to be just HD channels that I am having issues with, BBC 1,2 ITV, Channel 4 seem to stop/freeze the picutre, go black with the audio only displayed. All the other channels are fine, including the SD channels.

I have checked BBC2 HD and BBC3 HD during the World Cup Qualifiers currently on, and I have the same issue.

The video decoder provided by the SoC looking to be choking on the interlaced content when active on the UK broadcasts, while handling the progressive content fine. This is not uncommon in the UK, as the decoders on these devices are primarily designed for and tested with streaming video, which is always progressive. The HDHomeRun app detects a fault in the decoder and puts a temporary software block in place on it and switches to another available decoder, which is one provided by the OS, and it doesn't work at all, resulting in the audio only message. I have asked engineering to add a permanent block for all the broken decoders so it will revert to software decoding.

Is this why Plex also stops playing HD Content with with the error in the image?
