Scroolbar Issue in 20260115b

Post by msuckow »

[Windows 10 / 20260115b]

Scrolling has always been wonky in the HDHR app, but someone seems to have tried to "fix" it.
Previously, if you went to Tasks, you wouldn't see a scrollbar, but you could click where it should be to scroll.
Now, you see a scrollbar, but clicking on it moves the bar but not the content. The only way to scroll down is to keep pressing the Down/Up Arrow key. Page Up, Page Down, Home and End do not move the content window.

BTW, the scrollbar issue impacts the Tasks screen only.
The scrollbars in Discover and within a program's episode list work properly.

I have version 10260204 and the scrollbar in Tasks is no longer there.
Also, you cannot click on where the scrollbar should be to scroll.

To be clear, the code is still broken, just in a different way.

Quick review - there is a scroll bar in Recorded and Discover. There is no scrollbar in Live, Guide or Tasks.

As a 10-foot UI the logical solution here is to remove the scroll bar from Recorded and Discover.

Open to hearing the case for keeping/adding scroll bars.

I don't follow the logic here. If a scrollbar serves a purpose in Recorded and Discover, the same would be true in Tasks.
My Tasks list is about 10 pages long right now (due to the Olympics). The only remaining option to traverse this long list is to keep pressing the Down Arrow key.
A 10-foot UI should not be hard to navigate.

To me, Tasks is the only thing that needs a scrollbar, but most will probably never use one. I prefer managing my tasks outside of the app so it doesn't make that much difference to me. Everything else (in app) is done through 10 foot interface so a scrollbar never comes into play, however those with touch or mouse input can benefit from them, but typically not a remote with only dpad.

How are you moving the scrollbar? Are you on a system with a mouse?

My main viewing is on a TV driven by my HTPC. I use an air-mouse remote which can simulate a mouse and a keyboard.
