New HDHomerun 4K firmware; who dis .local?!?

I was pleased with setting up the Homerun while on nextdns, told it to update firmware, and after a bit was able to sign up for the guide and do recordings from the app ... hopefully to the unformatted connected USB drive. Acts like it works (and hate hate hates the powerline modem speed. It's not like those modems come with a signal tracing meter to tag problem surge snubbers etc.)

All fine, but hdhomerun.local no longer connects, as with {device ID}.local or HDHR-{device ID}.local on or off nextdns.

Overall DNS would be by my AT&T Fiber er...box, which is showing the device fine (will check again w. 50' wired Ethernet...)

In the Android HD HomeRun app I have things in tasks and can view the guide and shows, but it says it can't find the DVR if I tap RECORDINGS. NextDNS (w.o. vpn) or not.

Are you subscribed to the HDHomerun DVR service?

check and see what network your devices are actually on.

I was stumped by the "no hdhomeun found " message--while I was watching on another device.

It seems that the computer for some reason hopped to the wifi of my cable modem instead of my house network.

I put it back on the correct network, and thing s went well.

Thanks! I agree, but since putting them on the same wired Ethernet... maybe some wireless settings I have on the network are off. The TV (old ATSC 1.x Samsung, wired Ethernet) gets the channels and favorites offered to stream, but no recordings.

Gotta find a streaming app to help me get the ads I'd want over ATSC 3.x ...will get that console closer on wired Ethernet, thx.

AHA! So the HDHomerun network access works great on Windows. On Android and Android TV it's a zoo of problems, mostly not seeing recordings.

Also the Homerun had been recording shows, then showed up ready to reboot and format the drive again.(Drive by Yotuo...hm.)

Now...access from Windows via HDHomerun.local shows...recorded files if I refresh. Yaaaay.

Is there stuff I can run on Android to see the files and/or have a Chromecast play them over Ethernet?
