Mine does this sort of thing all the time, the longer the recorded program the more likely it is to do it.
1) If I try to hit FF say 6 times to skip a commercial in the evening news, it seems to always work OK.
2) If I try to hit FF say 6 times to skip a commercial in an hour or hour and 1/2 show, it will sometimes do it.
3) If I try to hit FF say 6 times to skip a commercial in an NFL game, about one out of 3 times it will go clear to the end, kick me back out to the menu, then make me start over again. What a pain.
4) If I use the 10+ forward, the same thing will happen under circumstances described above.
The only way I have found to prevent it is to do it REAL SLOW- hit FF once, letting it start playing again, wait a second, then hit it again. This is silly, and does not always work anyway. It does this on all 3 of our TV's, all using different models/ages of Amazon FireStick's.
What can be done??

1) Please enable "send diagnostic information" in the Settings menu of the app and then post back with the Device ID of your HDHomeRun.Recastreplacement wrote: Sat Jan 17, 2026 3:16 pm Mine does this sort of thing all the time, the longer the recorded program the more likely it is to do it.

2) Where are you storing recordings? Given the symptom I am wondering if maybe you have a virus scanner that is trying to scan the file each time it is accessed. The longer the recording the bigger the file and the longer it takes the virus scanner to scan it.
Re: Fast Forwarding Issue - Recastreplacement
I have already done this.
Re: Fast Forwarding Issue - Recastreplacement
I am looking at your thread now. Recastreplacement may be seeing a different problem so I split his posts out to a new thread (this thread).

Sorry for the delay, just saw this as a new thread.
Diagnostics are turned on. Device ID = 1097ED2C
It is just an external HDD attached directly to the HomeRun via cable. I don't have any network scanning or A/V apps running anywhere, so not sure what is causing it. Is the transfer speed of the HDD critical at all? It's just a cheap drive, but specs say SATA III at 6Gbps, can't find the cache or transfer speed specs at the moment...

Should also mention, as I think others have, that when this happens it shows that the entire program has been watched and makes me start over from the beginning. This of course leads right back to the same issue, because you then have to try and FF sometimes 2 hours to get back to where you were, then the same thing happens again.

Diagnostic logging is working - thanks.
Can you please let me know the exact date+time when you next see the problem occurring so I can check exactly what happened at that time.
