Hi,
On my FLEX 4K, how do I stop recording a TV show? Not a single episode but to stop recording any episodes of that show now and in the future?
I know I can only delete individual episodes one at a time (huge hassle since all 9 seasons are recorded) but I can't find any way to stop the recordings.
Thanks,
Larry.
Stop recording program
Re: Stop recording program
The user guide https://info.hdhomerun.com/info/app says to delete the task. Doesn't that work?

Re: Stop recording program
Delete the rule (task) prior to the scheduled start time (preferably 8 hours prior just to make sure) one does this from tasks, priority, show, trash can, delete (i think one could also do such from upcoming but that may require upcoming episode and/or recorded episode).
However once it starts recording it will continue to record unless one cancels rule, powers off device, and restarts the record engine prior to powering back on (this can be same step if tuner needing to be reset does the actual recording such as scribe/flex). There can be a couple of things that may keep tying up the tuner even after the rule gets deleted as it gets its orders up to 8 hours in advance and occasionally if something is scheduled on same channel right before it might put the order in to include the length of both programs from that channel (I've seen it do this and after canceling actually not write the cancelled recording to the drive but keeps accepting the packets thus continue to tie up tuner, one potential solution for this is to have no padding so shows dont overlap then it may actually record from another channel if that show has priority when it comes on. But in general most will probably say one cant stop a recording, at least easily stop one..
In theory if one stops the record engine they might also be able to reclaim tuner but that hasn't always worked for me which is why I suggest powering off tuner device as well.
Best solution is enough tuners and storage space to not have to worry about it. For me 20 tuners often isn't enough.

Re: Stop recording program
Here's the odd part, the show is still listed in my "Recorded" area but is not listed in "Tasks" (Upcoming or Priority).signcarver wrote: Sat Jan 03, 2026 3:39 pm Delete the rule (task) prior to the scheduled start time (preferably 8 hours prior just to make sure) one does this from tasks, priority, show, trash can, delete (i think one could also do such from upcoming but that may require upcoming episode and/or recorded episode).

If there are no scheduled upcoming airings of a show, is it still listed in both of those areas?
Thanks!
Larry.

Re: Stop recording program
If you have a recording you will see it in recordings. And that also shows upcoming episodes for that show not necessarily if it will be recorded or not (the red dot is a fairly good indicator of a candidate to be recorded but if such was deleted from tasks, you shouldn't see any red dots... occasionally the red dot may not record for other reasons when it comes time to record).

Hmmm. So I guess this means that at sometime in the past I must have deleted that "task" and left the recordings and forgot I did this!signcarver wrote: Sun Jan 04, 2026 3:10 pm If you have a recording you will see it in recordings. Thanks everyone for your prompt help!
