Is my HDHR Prime trying to tell me something?

Post by SpencerC »

I have a Win10 computer with a HDHR Prime cable card tuner. I use my computer as my primary source of watching television. This morning, I woke up and wanted to watch whatever bowl game was on this morning. My app on this Win10 computer was telling me there was some error with the tuner. Unfortunately, I did not take a screen shot and I've never seen this error before. Anyway, I opened up the HDHR setup app and it told me there was a firmware update available. After completing the update, the app still told me there was an error with the tuner. So I rebooted the computer. After launching the app this time, it warned me that the disk is getting full. No big deal, this happens all the time. So I go thru and delete a bunch of stuff I don't care about. After getting that warning to go away, it is now telling me that all 3 tuners are in use. This rarely happens but ok I can deal with this. I find out what is recording and realize that I don't care about anything recording and deleted the season passes for ONE of these shows as they were running a marathon and I REALLY would like to watch this bowl game. So I'm able to watch the game after a reboot to free up the tuner. After the game was over I leave the house and go run some errands. My computer runs 24/7. I only open/close the app for TV. I come back and boom, the app is telling me that there is an error with the tuner again. I reboot again. The app opens this time but is telling me that all 3 tuners are in use again. Sigh. I go in and delete another season pass because I have no idea how to stop something that is currently recording. Reboot again to free up a tuner and I can watch live TV again. So what is going on here? Is my HDHR Prime dying? Can it not handle 3 concurrent recordings? Could my hard drive be dying? How do I stop a recording that is currently in process? I've never seen this behavior before. I did buy a back up Prime in the event this one dies. Can I swap out the Prime using the same cable card, would it just work? Do I need to go thru a pairing again with Comcast (please no!).

Thanks!

What is the actual error message at the times when it wasn't all tuners in use?

There isn't a method for stopping a recording in progress other than deleting the recording rule and restarting the DVR.
