Good Afternoon everyone, I have searched and searched and searched. I'm thinking the answer is just in front of me or I'm really not getting it.
The setup when well, even subscribed to for more content. But for the life of me I can't figure how to send my recording to my 4TB usb drive. When I plug it in, it is recognized and preforms the format. After that it's missing in action. When I click on the record button, that USB is not an option. I read to go to the setup page, and I did, under devices I see my My flex duo and 0% of 4TB Used AND HDHomeRun record. Both with check marks beside it...Can someone hold my hand through this?

Re: Pointing to the correct storage location
That info seems to be correct for your new install...
There is no pointing to a specific storage location... various installs of the engine can be set up for a specific path but which engine is used is up to which one has the most space. A drive attached to a flex via USB will need to be formatted as XFS (this is what the format does if already attached to the drive, it is often done automatically if the drive is empty) and the files will be in a HDHomeRun directory as the root location and then make subdirectories for each series as needed (note since XFS you will generally need a linux machine to read the drive). Then the engine (on the flex) just uses it. All the modern engines communicate with the other engines on the same subnet and determine in the background which one records (typically the one with most space).
To actually record, rather than just use for buffer, you also have to subscribe to the DVR service.

Re: Pointing to the correct storage location
It sounds like you have also installed the DVR software on a Mac or PC, and need to uninstall it from there if you wish to only use the USB hard drive on the Flex.

Re: Pointing to the correct storage location
Note that if you saw both the flex and the record that means you have another engine some place.
