I think what is needed is for "classic" interface be built into the app and be made to not rely on internet connections and can be selected as a default interface. While the new interface may be more internet dependent.

I went to one of my news programs I record that always has a date of over a decade ago. At least the most recent recording seemed to appear on top (and no future episodes are shown as they are all the same episode). However I wanted to view airing right before that one which required more than 100 down arrow presses to get to (I gave up)... If I could sort the opposite direction it would have been 2nd from top. Also noticed similar behavior in the web interface of record engine as now they all have the same original airing date... I swear it used to offer a recording date there.

I have other solutions but for the first time since the DVR came out I am thinking of abandoning it entirely. At one time the windows app could "manually" get another ui... this new UI is making me wish for that option and specs published for creating one that works for me even if it is the UI from 5+ years ago.

@nickk: How do I tell which of these recorded first?

Some sort of visual indicator would be nice. Recording time, perhaps?

Please add the time recorded to the end of the date recorded string. There's plenty of room for it.

The first one recorded first. Within a season they are in episode order (oldest to newest).

In lieu of anything telling me that, I would have expected newest first.

At the very top it does not show the oldest one recorded it shows the latest episode that was the last one to be recorded I hate that feature I hate this new format the old one was user friendly this new format is not user friendly or there's a lot of things that have to be worked out you guys should allow us the option to go back to the old format if we choose to. You guys are missing the channel number that it's been recorded from in the time it was recorded. And I don't like that it doesn't show now after you watched an episode and deleted it and not recorded it again it does not show a gray check mark by it no more all of the episodes keep showing the recording Red symbol. This new format is very unfriendly and very hard to navigate through. You guys need to remove upcoming episodes from the recording page and just show the episodes that are recorded. Because this is not streaming this is broadcast TV so we don't need all that extra stuff on the recording page. I hope you consider it allowing us to go back to the old format. At this point I feel like giving up with HD home run. If this doesn't get resolved before my subscription is due I will not continue until this is fixed. I hate to lose you guys but I'm not going to waste my money on something I can't use. Because it's not user friendly no more

New UI is has lots of Improvements that make it much smoother and show loads are much quicker. The issue with discover refresh is fixed as well.

I had an issue with seeing the channel information to begin with but realized you can just click to the right instead of playing the channel and you can select the channel.

Thanks for the continued refinement of the product.

This new UI is not an improvement as it is hard to read the text. I agree with other people posting a selection between the classic and new UI would be a win-win for SD and users. I am a broadcast engineer by profession and have recommended the HD Homerun to many viewers who ask about recording local TV over the air. If this can’t get changed, I’ll recommend something else due to the fact it is forced on the customers and seeming no urgency on SD’s part to listen to their customers.
Please make the classic and new versions an option. Your end users will appreciate it.

Reminder - we provide this public forum where we actively participate, and we have been doing UI updates each day incorporating customer feedback. We also have email support, phone-callback support, Reddit, and Bluesky. Further improvements incorporating customer feedback will be out next week.

i agree with you signcarver that having a UI toggle so that users can bounce between old and new UI is great.

Señor Bob wrote: Sat Mar 15, 2025 8:41 pm I just took a look at 20250315 and this is not an improvement, to me. I often need to sort things by season and episode number, easy with the current version (20250211f), but not straightforward with 20250315. Please--leave the current user interface as it is.

If you want to offer this other interface, make it an opt-in option. But if you force this, it will make the user interface for discovering/programming things much less useful. This is not something I want.
I wholeheartedly agree about leaving the current 20250211f UI as an available UI. The new version looks like it was copied from a streaming service; way too visually complex and difficult to read from across the room. Not everyone has a 42in TV in their bedroom. The current Recorded Programs UI is simple, straightforward and easy to sort the episodes the way I want. Something I learned a long time ago: fancy is not always better.

Now how can I roll it back to v20250211f?

Here is the view at the top of the page, with the X icon.

When I scroll to the bottom of the page, there's no X icon.
Problem reproduced. It will be fixed on Monday.
Señor Bob wrote: Sun Mar 16, 2025 10:06 am So, what about the ability to sort, as mentioned in previous posts?
We don't plan to offer sort options for the episode view. The goal is to be less like a spreadsheet and more like the streaming services people are used to.
Not everyone likes the “streaming services” way of doing things. Some recorded series are best watched in order, but if I missed recording the beginning of the series, I may wait until I have recorded the earlier episodes. That makes for a lot of screens to sort through while I check to see if I have recorded it.

I would like to see the option to disable the boot animation. I personally don't want to wait an additional 6 seconds to watch TV or recorded TV.

Thanks!

I like the new UI and for me it is an improvement over the previous one. I can see how people may like the old one and not want to upgrade or want to be able to pick and choose. I think the ability to pick and choose would be wonderful and certainly an enhancement to the product's User friendliness.

Kudos to the SD team for continuing to work on improvements and seek user feedback!
