Anyone still using Live Channels

Post by spencer777 »

I know it's abandoned, too bad Google dropped it. Would have made Hdhomerun so much better.

Channels DVR is like a super version of it, yes you have to pay $8 for it, but its worth it. You can even channel surf with it. It will integrate some TV Everywhere channels into the guide and record it too. I dont even use the Sling interface anymore. Just the channels I want is all there to watch and record. I even use the Tivo Bolt remote on the Apple tV. The closest thing to the Tivo experience I once had and loved. Oh also, it will integrate your own videos-mkv's like a mini plex.

I'm still using Live Channels. It's also still available to download from the Play Store for newer devices like the Onn.

Some streaming apps like PlutoTV also still support it, so you can seamlessly switch between streaming channels and the HDHomeRun's OTA/cable channels without having to go back to the home screen.

I still use Live Channels on a daily basis. My go to app. Could not get used to the HDHomeRun app.

It’s a shame Google dropped Live Channels—it had a lot of potential! Channels DVR does seem like a great upgrade, but yeah, the $8 monthly fee is a downside. I’ve been considering it for the recording features, though, especially since it integrates TV Everywhere channels. I still prefer a simpler setup, so I stick with Live Channels for now, especially since it’s working well with my HDHomeRun and PlutoTV for a seamless experience. The whole “one app for all channels” is definitely a nice touch! :D

I have been using the SD app with my Fire TV stick 4K and I could not be happier with it. Pay $35 for the year for the guide and so far I found it works great. The software has been flawless and easy to use once you learn the way it behaves. The guide is very good.
