Remote Tunner reboot ?

Post by kendq »

Today I turned on my TV and it was very choppy on all channels I then got a "weak network error" so I unpluged it for 10 seconds and it resolved the issue. It got me thinking as I travel a lot it would be nice if you could Reboot the device by the software. would that be useful?

Already can be done with hdhomerun_config to restart itself

But sometimes it may wish a little more down time and for that I would resort to power you can remotely manage (note some such smartplugs have caused issues for network and/or rf reception with the hdhomerun)

Rebooting should not be required, nor would it have an impact on network or reception issues.

I dont doubt that it may be on the router side (to many wifi devices) but when I did reboot it made a world of difference. I looked at hd_homerun config but I don't see how you reboot from that. Being out of town so long I have to have access to my Bills games.

have it restart itself... see https://info.hdhomerun.com/info/hdhomerun_config

I would suggest using ip address rather than deviceid in the command

such as: hdhomerun_config 192.168.0.5 set /sys/restart self
