The audio skips instantly, but the video takes 3-5 seconds to catch up. We previously had an Nvidia Shield TV, and skipping was instantaneous. Is there a reason the platform struggles in this area?
No issues like that with Apple TV.

Ethernet or WiFi? Wondering if you might be on the edge of WiFi range and getting poor throughput.
I see this same issue and my WIFI signal is very strong. Speedtest to my ISP is over 600 Mbps.

We are plugged in via Ethernet with speeds of 400 Mbps.

"Full-framerate deinterlacing is progressing."
Has it progressed in the last 2 months ??
Yes. 1080i60 to 1080p60 deinterlacing is working internally. We are working through an issue that is holding up the release.

Can we get this out in the wild please ? Even if it's Testflight ?

It's not releasable at this point due to instability. We're still working on it, but another app update that includes a number of other fixes will be released soon.

How about 50p support?
In europe we have 25/50p hdtv and we get stuttering using the apple tv app

This is October, wondering what fixes have been made to the Apple TV app in the last 6 months since I asked about some issues? Have the settings been brought up to the standard of the other streaming apps? Can the "slice guide" along the right edge of the screen be turned off yet? Has any progress been made in getting this app up to the state of the other streaming apps? I've been using the Channels DVR now for several months, and am still hoping that Silicon Dust is moving their Apple TV app forwards.

It would be nice to get a sense of what's going on with this app, if anything. I'd like to use it, but last time I tried it was pretty painful.

Thanks!

I’m looking to buy a FLEX 4K and attach a USB drive for DVR recordings. I have an Apple TV 4K as my primary client device but I’m really struggling to figure out the current state of the app development of HDHomeRun for Apple TV. Does it only support live TV and no DVR features? Does it handle 1080i well? Decode mpeg2 natively? Support 4K streams?
Apple TV supports all DVR features. Live TV supports slice TV guide. MPEG2 is supported using software decode (all apps on all Apple platforms software decode MPEG2). 4K is supported on Apple TV 4K models.

The two key features left on our TODO list for Apple TV are the alternative text grid tv guide and upconverting 1080i60 MPEG2 to 1080p60 using GPU acceleration.
