Hi nickk, how is iOS DRM continuously working with HDHomerun PRIME with no issues? Could the engineering team somehow replicate the decoding of DRM from iOS to MacOS/tvOS. I understand for Android, Google changed the API for DRM and your team is working on it this week, hoping to resolve soon. I know many use nVIdia Shield along with other Android OS hardware and rely on HDHomerun (PRIME) for their daily TV viewing.
DRM Channels Not Working on Android Devices

Re: DRM Channels Not Working on Android Devices
As far as I can remember, DRM push started with restricting users from playing bands music that were converted to MP3's,
and sharing the music or video on P2P networks.
Causing the music & movie industry to lose money.
Out of curiosity I Googled for "DRM and FOX" between 2005 -2017 and didn't find any news on the topic.
Back then I sure a lot of music and movie companies were pushing for DRM, it was a big issue that started with the music & movie industry saying they were all loosing money, and I think eveyone in the media industry became scared an aimed to implement DRM as soon as possible.
Re: DRM Channels Not Working on Android Devices
nickk,
DRM channels are now working on PRIME!! I’m on version 20240801 (App) / 20241007 (UI) (beta).
DRM channels on PRIME were out for 2 months! Please keep this working, whatever your engineering team did with the new Google API it’s working!
Thank you again.

DRM channels are working. Thanks. Please provide us with an explanation and timeline of what was done to correct this issue over the past 60 days.

Re: DRM Channels Not Working on Android Devices
My Onn box, my Samsung phone and Samsung tablet all can again play DRM channels as well. No action on my part was required.

Re: DRM Channels Not Working on Android Devices
Thank you Nick, and engineers at Silicon Dust
Very glad to have DRM back up and running
Hopefully Google wont end support for any other API's soon/again
Have a good weekend gentlemen
Re: DRM Channels Not Working on Android Devices
It’s still not working for my Nvidia Shield. Any ideas besides reinstall and reboot both the shield and HD home run prime? My googletv dongles appear to have been fixed.
Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately DRM still isn't working on my Nvidia ShieldTV but working on my phone and tablet. Thanks to the team for getting us this far! Hopefully they can resolve the SheildTV not working.
Thanks

Re: DRM Channels Not Working on Android Devices
I am still getting “Unable to play channel: No Video Data” error for all DRM channels from my HDHomeRun PRIME Model HDHR3-CC running Firmware 20230713. Non-DRM channels play just fine. And my HDHR Flex 4K works perfectly too for all OTA channels.
I tested the HDHR app on the following devices – and all failed to play DRM channels:
Samsung Tab S7 running latest Android 13, app shows as Version 20240801 (App) / 20241007 (UI)
Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra running latest Android 14, app shows as Version 20240801 (App) / 20241007 (UI)
iPad Air 4th gen running iOS 17.6 app shows as Version 20241007 (UI)
HDHomeRun Windows PC App Version 20240705 (App) / 20241007 (UI) running on ASUS desktop and Dell laptops
Acer Chromebook running latest ChromeOS
Apple MacBook Pro (Mid 2015) running macOS Monterey 12.7.5 app shows as Version 20241007 (UI)
Last month the PC and MacBook apps were working fine as was the iPad, but the Android-based apps were not - I was waiting for the fix for Android. Now they have all stopped working.
I have rebooted the HDHR Prime and the devices multiple times.
Since it seems DRM is now working for other folks, what am I missing?
Thank you.

Re: DRM Channels Not Working on Android Devices
I just unistalled, then reinstalled the HD Home Run app on my Nvidia Shield, cleared the cache, enabled location permissions, and the DRM channels are now working.
Re: DRM Channels Not Working on Android Devices
No luck for me. On my Tab S7 I cleared cache and data, uninstalled, rebooted, installed HDHR app, cleared cache and data again, enabled location permission, and then opened the HDHR app. Same error on DRM channels: "Unable to play channel: No Video Data". Non-DRM channels work fine.
Re: DRM Channels Not Working on Android Devices
The computer you have running the HD HomerRun Service, ( for me, its on a windows PC) that provides the service to my android devices.pflyaz wrote: ↑Sat Oct 12, 2024 11:48 am No luck for me. Restart the HDHomeRun Service that provides the connection for your client systems.
And then try starting the app on those devices again.
