Re: DRM Channels Not Working on Android Devices
Guessing the HDHR3-CC will soon be discontinued as it's "temporarily out of stock" on the SD Shop site (if it isn't already EOL). Can't sell a product that doesn't work. It's possible Google doesn't have an API to replace whatever they discontinued and has no plans to do so. Unless we all swap out our Android boxes for iPhones and iPads, can't watch CableCard DRM channels.
And someone needs a spell checker... ASTC?

It's a shame... good product when it worked. Turning in my CC at the end of the month if there's no solution or even a hint of something on the horizon.

While Waiting for the SD DRM fix
I have been looking into this by Verizon
For those that may have Verizon FIOS
It only offered Wi-Fi connections and I like to have Ethernet connections
But that can be addressed with a USB /Ethernet adapter/converter
But I am sure there wont be any DRM issues with this box since it's Verizon, and for their own service.

Re: DRM Channels Not Working on Android Devices
That seems like what VZ is going to move to with the Next Gen Fios. They know most people are streaming now so they are moving away from fixed video which will make the HDHR-Primes pointless. But for those of us that still have Primes and fixed video we need the DRM channels to work. I've been with out them for over 2 months now.
NedS or ANY SD EMPOYEE... can we get an status update on the new android app DRM fix please!

Re: DRM Channels Not Working on Android Devices
I have seen many complaints about how overly compressed these TV streams from Verizon in FIOS forum. Keep your CableCard.Arty2024 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 01, 2024 7:11 am While Waiting for the SD DRM fix

Engineering has a big chunk of time blocked off next week for work on CableCARD DRM on Android devices.

Re: DRM Channels Not Working on Android Devices
Thanks Jason.
For everyone else complaining and coming up with weird theories, you need to chill. It is just TV. I have 4 Primes for over 10 years. This is honestly the first real issue I have ever had with this product, and honestly, its not that big of a deal.
If TV really is your life, then you should have a backup for viewing it.

Re: DRM Channels Not Working on Android Devices
I do I use XFINITY Stream app and capture Premium Channels using HDMI Capture device and Channels DVR.... with guide data and Passes. I rarely use my Primes.banders5144 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 01, 2024 5:45 pm Thanks Jason.

Re: DRM Channels Not Working on Android Devices
Thanks for this update Jason and patiently waiting for this fix. Please let us know if/when a beta is available for download.
Hate having to use my iPhone to use HD HomeRun app to watch the DRM channels when I have nVidia Shield boxes all around my house.

Says the person who has 4 Primes for 10 years
Honestly though
It is fairly big deal for me since I use Fox Business News (They are DRM) in the background daily
When I day trade.
Sure I can use Bloomber Financial news that does not have DRM on their channel
but its not as good in providing the financial news
Fox/Fox Business news has their own streaming app,
But it needs work, and buffers a lot, along with a few other issues.
Paitiently looking forward for the DRM fix

as customers, we should spend this energy on petitioning FOX to lift the DRM....Arty2024 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 03, 2024 8:03 am"""" and honestly, its not that big of a deal. """"banders5144 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 01, 2024 5:45 pm Thanks Jason.

Totally agree!
Actually most if not all channels that use DRM to me, is useless.
It didn't pan out for what DRM push years ago, ended up being
Theses day, with if someone wanted to actually copy content, there is many ways to do this.
High Def SmartPhones, and 8000k TV's one could just record off the TV,
and any editing needs can be done on desktop with one of the many video editing apps out there.
I have contacted Fox, a few weeks after the SD DRM issue came up
And asked them to remove it
Haven't heard anything back yet
Re: DRM Channels Not Working on Android Devices
what would be the appropriate contact? maybe if we can get enough people to contact them.Arty2024 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 06, 2024 8:11 amjco23 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 05, 2024 9:51 amas customers, we should spend this energy on petitioning FOX to lift the DRM....Arty2024 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 03, 2024 8:03 am

bigger question is, how many people/devices is this impacting? if only a few, I doubt they'll take any measures. but if we can prove there are hundreds of thousands, then maybe they will.
Re: DRM Channels Not Working on Android Devices
I highly doubt that Fox will remove DRM, they are one of the few channels on Fios that enable it and unless 1,000,000 people contact them and request it, it’ll probably get the auto delete response

I used this address to contact Fox, and topic selecton was other
But in the text that I had sent, I asked it be directed to marketing, and their TV/Web TV service departments
And basically spoke that they are one of only a ver few stations that have DRM enabled, and that it creates more problems for Viewers on Android, SmartTV's, etc devices, and others.

I agree if enough people contact them,
maybe they would do something about removing DRM.
Re: DRM Channels Not Working on Android Devices
FOX is one the drivers of DRM (keep in mind they tried to block recording of broadcast TV back in 2008).
