I have set up my HDHomerun on my HTPC and it’s working fine with the HDHR app. The issue is when I set it up in Plex Server it recognizes the tuner and sets up everything fine. When I try to access a local channel I get back a”Playback Error” . It also says “This Live TV session has ended”. No matter what channel I select I get the same error. Any ideas?
Issues 2. ) Also on the Plex server when I try to playback a recorded program a get an error that says”This server is not powerful enough to convert video”?

Re: HDHomerun plex playback error
What are the specs of your computer and what are you trying to watch it on. Sounds like the PC you are trying to use as the server just doesn't have enough to transcode the video to the device you are trying to watch it on.
Re: HDHomerun plex playback erro
My 5th HTPC build.
Motherboard ASUS Prime H570M-PLUS ATX Micro
RAM - 16GB Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 DRAM 3200MHz C16 Desktop Memory Kit - Black (CMK16GX4M2B3200C16)
M.2 SSD Samsung 970 EVO Plus Series - 250GB PCIe NVMe - M.2 (boot Drive and where the Plex Server app is)
GPU ASUS TUF Gaming NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti EVO OC Edition Graphics Card (PCIe 3.0, 6GB GDDR6, HDMI 2.0b, DisplayPort 1.4, Space-Grade Lubricant, Compact Design, GPU Tweak II) SN:N3YVNC00D456FEL
CPU Intel® Core™ i5-11400F Processor (no GPU on this CPU)
The Plex Server on this PC works flawlessly for all my movies, TV series and personal photos and videos. The Plex clients on my Nvidia shield, IPad and Fire TV stick play perfectly.
I’m thinking it’s a Plex Server setting but I have checked everything and don’t see a settings issue.

Re: HDHomerun plex playback error
I do see other people having this problem but I honestly can't tell you what the fix if any there is for it.
I would take it your using Windows?
Your CPU and GPU I would think should be able to transcode. Latest nvidia driver installed?
Are you allowing direct play on your devices.
I guess start with the simple things. Is hardware acceleration enabled. Under Transcoder.
Check marked
Use hardware acceleration when available.
Use hardware-accelerated video encoding
Hardware transcoding device set to Auto

Re: HDHomerun plex playback error
All the above are set.
PLEX just updated and I’m recording a half hour CBS News program via Plex. I tried recording using HDHR app and guide. Nothing happened. No recording. I just read that I have to purchase the one year guide from SD in order to record. Is this correct? Also, when recording via Plex, is it using the SSD plugged into the HDHR FLEX or is plex storing it on my Nvidia shield?

Re: HDHomerun plex playback error
The DVR service from SD requires payment for the subscription before it can be used for anything but buffer of live tv for the HDHomeRun app.
Plex cannot use the drive on the flex. That is only for the HDHomeRunDVR from SD.

Re: HDHomerun plex playback error
Thanks for the info. Can I assign in Live TV Plex where it saves the recording to?
Re: HDHomerun plex playback error
I've recently run into the same problem with Plex. My Plex / HD HomeRun server has been running trouble-free since 2018. I only watch Plex Live TV during football season so I'm not sure how long the problem has been present. Using the SD Windows app works flawlessly. Every once in a while, Plex works, but most of the time I get a playback error
Re: HDHomerun plex playback error
I'm getting this same error. Using a HDHomerun ConnectQuad. I can play back using the HD Homerun app, but not within or via Plex. Plex is on the most recent update. Perhaps I'll roll that back, if possible and check again. Worked fine yesterday, today, following Plex update; no joy. Assume this is a Plex problem, not HD Homerun.
Re: HDHomerun plex playback error
Rolling back to the previous version worked. I was running Plex 1.41.0.8994. Reverted back to 1.40.4.8679. Apparently it's been a while since I've updated my server! Anyway, my HD Homerun now plays on Plex.
This post explains how to do it:

Good luck. Hopefully Plex can resolve this issue soon.

Re: HDHomerun plex playback error
There have been many issues with live tv playback and recording for several updates now, the only fix I’ve found is installing this specific version: PlexMediaServer-1.40.5.8921-836b34c27-x86_64 (No need to uninstall, just say yes when it asks if you want to install an older version)
