Background channel scan
Background channel scan
Is there a way to turn off the background channel scan which occurs every 3 days or so? I have an issue here in the UK where I am between 2 transmitters (1 in Wales and 1 in England) so if the background channel scan occurs during high pressure I lose my regional variations for BBC channels (BBC 1 Wales, BBC 2 Wales) and replaces them with the English versions. My wife is less than impressed with this!
Re: Background channel scan
The ability to turn off background scans has been a long wish for some. It has never happened. There has also been a wish for the ability to choose the specific transmitter for those in the US between translators (a related issue). It, also, has never happened.pb_cymru wrote: ↑Sat Oct 05, 2024 12:52 am Is there a way to turn off the background channel scan which occurs every 3 days or so? Sometimes rotating the antenna can reduce the levels of the "less desirable" transmitter to the point where it is not detected, while not substantially impacting the transmitter you do wish (or an antenna with a more directional pattern).
However, another solution may be a notch filter for the frequency of the "less desirable" transmitter. Channel specific attenuators tend to be expensive, but sometimes you don't need it to be precise (just a range), and such attenuators are sometimes available under the term "tier filter" at reasonable prices.
Re: Background channel scan
Not at the moment, but the dev team does have better regional handling (and other virtual channel conflicts) on their to-do list.pb_cymru wrote: ↑Sat Oct 05, 2024 12:52 am Is there a way to turn off the background channel scan which occurs every 3 days or so? Re: Background channel scan
All receivable channels should be available even if two (or more) have the same name. The physical channel numbers should also be available to the users, who could block some channels if they want to. Ideally, they should be able to rename virtual channels so that they could watch all that had the same name. Example: BBC 1 English and BBC 1 Wales.
Re: Background channel scan
I have the same problem but in reverse - keeps replacing my English channels with the Welsh variations.pb_cymru wrote: ↑Sat Oct 05, 2024 12:52 am Is there a way to turn off the background channel scan which occurs every 3 days or so? Gonna have to return the HD Homerun it seems. I had one years ago and it did the same thing then, so doubt it will get fixed.
