5 of 7 ATSC channels have turned on DRM at this point. The picture quality was so much better on the ATSC 3 channels. There was so much potential but I think that they have ruined it by adding DRM.

Update, just noticed that the two Sinclair channels took off the DRM on their channels. Now it's just the two Tenga and COX media channels with DRM active. Hopefully this means the DRM experiment is coming to an end, but I doubt it.

Just went to put on the game this afternoon and got the dreaded usage restrictions message. A search brought me here and left me totally deflated. Over a year of working on this SD and DRM still not supported? Takes me back to the Prime days of DRM recording support coming soon. Starting to feel like I bought yet another device that won't be fully functional.

I guess you can add rokus to the supported list now when it comes to drm support.

They are requiring widevine drm in the apps that use it as of June 30, 2025. Playready drm is being phased out on rokus.

Roku supports Widevine DRM used by A3SA but may not meet other A3SA protocol requirements for network tuners.

Is there somewhere I can read about those?

I don't think the A3SA specs are public.

Haven't been around for awhile, I now see that KTVU (FOX San Francisco Ch. 2/102.1) now has DRM active. So, the only clear stations are KRON (CW Ch. 4/104.1), KBKF-LP (U Channel Ch. 6/106.1), and KGO (ABC Ch. 7/107.1).

Question: what is stopping the HDHomeRun 4K from getting DRM channels?

Directed to nickk...
Does SD have a plan for receiving / playing / recording ATSC3 protected channels? It must be possible since zipperbox and some others are supporting this and advertising products. Is there going to be additional fees (I'm kind of assuming there will be) any ETA of when we might see this?
Thanks
Jan
