Cable card no HD channels Xfinity

Post by Mako320 »

After the last firmware update, I could not receive any HD channels from xfinity. In my area the HD channels are from about 650-800. I only receive 55 channels in the ranges 0-264 and 1024-1191. Any ideas?

We would like to get some diagnostic data:
  1. Please go to http://hdhomerun.local
  2. If it tells you that a firmware update is available, please install it
  3. Click System Status
  4. Check the Send diagnostic information box
  5. Go back one page
  6. Click Channel Lineup
  7. Click on Detect Channels

Reply back to this post and provide us the device ID of your HDHomeRun and we will check the logs. You can find the device ID on a label on the bottom of the HDHomeRun itself.

Something you can try is to contact the Comcast CableCARD support CSRs, and try words something like "I am not receiving all the channels I subscribe to". They they will typically try to send the appropriate provisioning data. It sometimes works (and is probably worth trying). I do not recall whether you may need to do a manual channel scan afterwards to update the list (it has been a long time since I had to do it).

The challenge is sometimes that for Motorola cards there are two different places in the system where the subscribed channels have to be correctly set. The account, and the specific CableCARD. Fixing things when they those two places are out of sync has sometimes required someone (at Comcast) with deep understanding of their systems and how they can go sideways.

What gtb said. The card looks like it is only authorized for the "limited basic" tier (or whatever they call it) that just has locals, shopping channels, religious channels, and a couple others instead, of whatever your actual channel package is.
