Unable to play channel iPad

Post by eXoticon »

Hello, I tried to play channel 105.1 on my iPad, but I got this error:
Unable to play channel:
The broadcaster has applied usage restrictions to this content that prevents viewing on this
Apple TV device
I deleted and re-installed the app, but issue persists.

I’ve also enabled “Send diagnostics”

If the channel has encryption, that would be expected.

See the atsc3 encryption thread viewtopic.php?t=78888

Unfortunately some ATSC 3.0 channels are applying A3SA+Widevine DRM encryption that is incompatible with Apple products.

Normal ATSC 3.0 channels work well on Apple platforms including the Mac M1 and iPad which are NextGen TV certified when used with the HDHomeRun hardware + app.

Stations turning on A3SA+Widevine DRM know the are blocking Apple products.

Is there anything I can do or is there no workaround for this?

There is no work around when it comes to DRM (other than buy a tv or stb that supports atsc3 with drm). It is expected android devices will eventually work with atsc3 drm and the hdhr but it may be a long time before that happens.
