Overridding Current Tuner with HTTP

Looking to override a specific tuner's tune via the http api. Couldn't find any documentation on the topic. Is this possible?

The tune (virtual or physical channel) is provided in the HTTP request. To change channel you close the HTTP connection and start a new HTTP connection specifying the new channel.
