Unable to watch DRM channels on AppleTV but can on iPhone

I have the latest and greatest Apple TV and everything works fine except I can’t tune in HBO channels. All I get is a black screen. The HBO channels are the only ones DRM’d. I can tune these stations on my iPhones, iPads and Windows PC’s. What I is wrong?

For cablecard drm, the app requires iOS(iphone/ipad), windows 10 app (includes xbox one), or "real" android, NOT tvOS, macOS or fireOS, etc..

OTA drm support isn't out yet for any of the platforms.

This is good to know. I just assumed that tvOS would also support DRM programming. Do you know if DRM playback will be coming to tvOS?

Last I heard apple doesn't have an official way to detect hdcp unless such content is a fairplay delivered HLS stream. I believe the folks at channels found an unofficial way while thinking about implementing dtcp-ip but they didn't like the liability responsibilities that came with being dtcp certified and personally I wouldn't trust such unofficial way to always produce the correct results.
