The rabbitears data for Phoenix is showing the channel 5 KPHO is not DRM protected, but it is according to my tuner info, and I can't tune that channel due to DRM.

RabbitEars relies on reports from local viewers, especially in markets like Phoenix where no one is contributing data to their live bandscan.

Where were you looking as it has shown up as such for me for a few weeks as DRM at rabbitears.info... Whenever I check locals there, I look up the market listing (ie a google search for kpho site:rabbitears.info as that is easiest station id for me to remember for phoenix) and click the link then click on the KASW (virtual 61/physical 27) in the market listings to see the ATSC 3.0 channels that have KPHO and the other majors. Today I checked the general 3.0 listings and it was listed there as well (and I seem to recall a few days ago I checked there as well and it was marked as such).

This is great to hear. Have you considered any sort of partnership which would allow you to add streaming channels into the HDHR EPG? For example, Freecast, PlutoTV, etc channels would show up in the HDHR app along side OTA channels.

I think that is exactly what Freecast is doing, just use that as the HDHR app is not that good.

Is the HDHomeRun 4K getting DRM a given at this point or is there still a possibility that it will not get DRM?

What??? Have you actually tried the Freecast app? Its a buggy sluggish t.rd. The HDHR app is way better.

What about Apple TV 4K (3rd Gen)? My Apple TV's HDHomeRun version is still at 20230510 (App) / 20230510 (UI) and I get a signal on one channel, but I can't change the channel. And there's no other updates via TestFlight.

M2 Pro Mac mini - 20230727 (UI)(beta) working work for ATSC & unencrypted ATSC 3.0
iPhone 14 Pro Max - 20230727 (UI)(beta) working for ATSC & unencrypted ATSC 3.0
12.9" iPad Pro (M1) - 20230727 (UI) (beta) working for ATSC & unencrypted ATSC 3.0
iPad mini 5 - 20230727 (UI) (best) working for ATSC & unencrypted ATSC 3.0

But I'm still getting Unable to play channel. Content Protection Required on the 3 SF Bay Area stations: KPIX 5 (105.1), KNTV 11 (111.1), and Univision 14 (114.1)

Sounds like you're on the tvOS 17 beta, which is known to be broken for a variety of apps. Disable the beta option and do a factory reset on it and it should revert to tvOS 16.

Jason, yes, my 3rd Gen is on the beta, but my 2nd Gen Apple TV 4K is on 16.6 (20M73) and it's also on version 20230510 (App) / 20230510 (UI). My HDHomeRun 4K is on firmware 20230719. And all I'm getting on the DRM channels is a black screen with the channel ID.

We can only control our apps. If other apps want to jump through all the hoops to get approved for DRM and actually implement it, then there are certainly conversations to be had about it and how it can be done in a way that makes A3SA happy. I don't know that Plex or Emby would even be interested given how they focus so much on viewing everywhere, but Channels could potentially make it work. They struck out on getting DTCP-IP licensing for CableCARD DRM, but Widevine is a totally different system with different requirements so it's not an automatic 'no'.

Certification is completely separate from DRM. DRM support is still being developed.

Copy that. Oh, and no problem getting signals on KTVU Ch. 2 (102.1), KRON Ch. 4 (104.1), or KGO Ch. 7 (107.1) on my 2nd Gen. Any possibility of updating the HDHomeRun software for Apple TV? As it would be nice to be able to change channels on my 3rd Gen, as it was working before.
