TECH5-16DC(EU) availibility

Post by dennis2000 »

Hello Nick,

You might remember me. I placed an order for the TECH5-16DC(EU) back in 2020.
I had conversation with Scott (after very long time of no one picking ticket up) who told me to buy TECH5-16DT which could then be flashed to DC.

So I did. Place the order that is. Then again silence. Trying again for a year to get contact finally in 2021 I get the response that due to problems with the website response has been slow.
At that moment the stock on tech5 was zero so I could not get supplied. Once in stock I would be getting it shipped from US instead of UK.
"Sorry for the late reply, I will update once I know more." was the last message after up untill today again zero response.

When will I be seeing mu TECH5-16DC(EU) or TECH5-16DT being shipped?

I am patient but it is becoming somewhat silly no?

Kind regards,
Dennis M.

Hi,

The TECH5-16DT-4X4 now has DVB-C support and has replaced the TECH5-16DC-4X4.

We have the TECH5-16DT-4X4 in stock and available to ship (ships from USA via FedEx).

If you let me know the order number I will check.

Nick

Ah, our ticket system doesn't go back to 2021 :)

If you order in the next 2 hours we can ship out today:
https://shop.silicondust.com/shop/produ ... -16dt-4x4/

If you had paid for an order back in 2021 please let me know the order number and I will figure it out.

So, your ticket system, like the forum, disappears items? How, um, "quaint".

We replaced the ticket system with a much better ticket system about 15 months ago. The old system was kept online for reference by our support staff for a year.

Thanks for the update.

In past lives I have been involved with two ticketing system migrations for major corporations (both multi-billion dollar companies, so a different scale). In both cases, maintaining the instituional knowledge in the existing tickets (and there is always a few hidden gems in the huge amount of chaff in a ticketing system) was a non-negotiable requirement[0]. In one case the old tickets were migrated (not perfectly, but the raw data got through), and in another the old app was frozen in read-only mode "forever" (AFAIK it is still available three decades later, probably running on a VM).

[0] Sure, everything is actually negotiable, but no one was willing to take responsibility for losing some important conversation with a high value client.
