HD Homerun Flex 4K Signal Issues with Firmware Update

Post by gworkman »

I have been working via e-mail support, but for some reason, I am no longer getting replies. The most recent troubleshooting response was telling me that the issue was likely my antenna. I have used the same antenna configuration for over 5 years and have many devices using the antenna with no issues. The only thing that keeps changing is firmware.

I noticed a firmware change in late december. After that update, a channel scan would only produce the 4 ATSC 3.0 channels in my area, but did not bring in any other channels. After being frustrated by the lack of responses to my e-mail queries, I decided to attempt installing the Beta firmware (dated 1/7/2023). After installing the Beta firmware last night, I was able to scan in all programming and, once again, pulled in over 100 channels.

This morning, the device reverted to regular firmware (dated 1/6/2023). I am no longer recieivng any channels.

Is anyone else experiencing this? Is SiliconDust aware of the issue? Is there ANYTHING I can do to assist in resolving? It has been two weeks of no service, aside from the few hours I was able to use the device yesterday.

The firmware doesn't revert - if you installed 20230107beta1 firmware then that will still be the firmware running. When you see 20230106 that will be the UI version (also the latest).

I can check a few things - can you please turn on "send diagnostic information" in the settings menu of the HDHomeRun app then reply back with the device ID of your HDHomeRun.

You mentioned a support ticket - please let me know the ticket number and I will research that as well.

I came to the form to post my signal strength problem and I ran across this already started topic so I will just add to it. I too have had limited success with e-mail support.

Here is my story. I am working on a new installation utilizing a Channel Master Masterpiece 100 antenna. The location is 35, 40 and 60 miles away from the three transmitters. I have now worked with three Flex 4K units. The first two worked well before applying the December software update and failed to get even one channel after being updated. I have returned the first to units to Amazon and now have a third unit that works as it should. I will NOT be updating the firmware because that is what seems to have made the first two units stop receiving any channels at my location.

I came to the forum for similar reasons. After the 20221205 firmware, I am having a problem with a channel that is fairly close to me. The signal strength is 100%, signal quality is 93%, symbol quality is 100% most of the time. However, now I am seeing the symbol quality go from 100% to "none" randomly, where the other values don't change. I get a black screen with "Test Signal On" which I don't know if that comes from the FLEX 4K or from Plex.

That comes from the broadcaster. They must be doing something on their side. What are the call numbers for the station?
