Roku and ATSC 3.0

Post by srjones1985 »

With Roku getting some updates on the HDHR App, are there any plans to add an SAP selection to allow users to change audio tracks? A lot of my ATSC 3.0 channels on my Roku Ultra, especially NFL Games, are stuck on Spanish or on descriptive audio.

I understand that Roku is not the greatest option to go with and you are at the mercy of using the Roku’s built in player.

With that being said, is this issue more on Roku or will there be option on the Discovery page to change audio in upcoming updates. Thanks.

The first thing to do is install the latest beta firmware for your HDHomeRun - this update tries to but the likely primary audio channel first to help with Roku.

Beta firmware is installed by installing the Windows of Mac Beta software from here:

Just installed the beta firmware and verified it updated.

Unfortunately I just tuned into a ATSC 3.0 channel and it defaulted to descriptive audio. Went to “accessibility and captions” to try and change it but listed “only default track available” under audio.

Can you please make a 60s format=dbg capture of the channel:
http://hdhomerun.local:5004/auto/v102.1 ... uration=60
(change 102.1 to the problem channel)

When complete please upload to a drive site like Google Drive and PM me the share link.

Roku only reporting one audio track is an issue with Roku's player.

I’ll see if I can figure out how to do that. It’s not all the time but have found it to happen on certain programs on a couple different ATSC 3.0 channels. I assume you need the problem to be occurring and the channel playing when I do that link, correct?

Yes, when you next experience the problem on Roku click that link using a browser on your PC.
