I have a Prime I got recently off Amazon. I want to get another but I cant seem to get anything in plex to come up in 1080P no matter which channel I select. I'm not sure, but I think it is 1080P in the windows HD homerun app. Is there a way to check?
I guess I should start by verifying that the Prime can do 1080P, correct?
And, if anyone has experience with the prime with comcast, were you able to get 1080P channels?
3rd, if you have comcast and 1080P channels, did you get them working in plex?
Thanks.

Re: Prime In Plex Is Only 720P
Linear 1080p isn't a thing on cable, your cable box might upconvert everything to 1080p, but the actual linear channels are either 480i, 720p or 1080i.
And everything is 720p because when Comcast moved to a national headend they decided to downconvert all of the 1080i channels (i.e. Turner, Discovery, Viacom, NBCU, etc) to 720p.

The PRIME can do 4K.
Most cable TV channels are 720p.

I'm using Channels DVR with HDHR Prime (Xfinity) and love it, but just noticed that all of last nights recordings were in 720 (instead of 1080). I thought this might be a bug with Channels update or something, so I opened the HDHR stream for CBS directly in VLC, and sure enough, it's 720 (using h.264 instead of MPEG).
Is Xfinity dropping quality to 720 for all channels?

Sounds right - Xfinity/Comcast has been moving everything to 720p AVC in many markets.
