No recordings for months, but upcoming tasks always has many

Post by RWFarley »

I've been away from my Quattro recordings for a while and I see that my recordings seemed to have stopped in July. In the past the recording engine would stop if there was a power outage, so 2ce a week I check that in the app the "Recorded" tab shows content. Always has. Just in case I did the "Putty sudo ./hdhomerun_record start " and got "HDHomeRun RECORD already running" Whenever I check the "Tasks" tab "Upcoming" shows that the 5 daily shows I have set for recording each are set for tonight. "Settings"/"Devices" says I have 52% of 3.9TB used on my NAS. I can watch TV live on my PC on all the channels I record, but either "Recorded" can't find the recordings, or they're not getting done for some reason.

The log is weird... I don't see the record engine attempting to sync with the guide server.

Can you please download and install the latest HDHomeRun software:

Installed. in lower right I see "Version 20200529 (App) / 20211015f (UI) {Is it possible to put an image to avoid typos?}

My "upcoming Tasks" shows tonights episodes of my 4 daily shows, and LIVE has the correct program for the channels....

PS, Is there a "Quick Start" page to remind me how to find where logs are, where ID #s are, How to "peek" at tuners, etc.? I do htese things so infrequently I alwas need to start from scratch :-(

You are still running an old version of the record engine.

Guessing it is running on a NAS... please run HDHomeRun Setup on your Windows PC, then click NAS Install on the DVR tab to go through the installation process.
Or, if you installed using a custom package then you should install the latest release of that package.

That didn't upgrade.

Can you please run HDHomeRun Setup again, enable "send diagnostic information" on the Advanced tab, then go through NAS Setup again.

did this:

HDHomeRun (Viewing App)
{Icon to see Recordings, etc.}
Settings
Send diagnostic information "ON"
Quit App
HDHomeRun Setup {This time "Run as Administrator"}
DVR
NAS Install
{Personal Cloud}
{Login}
-----
Model: Seagate Personal Cloud
SSH Enabled: Ok
SSH Session: Ok
NAS Architecture: armv7l
HDHomeRun Share: Ok
Installing Service: Ok
Configuring Service: Ok
Starting Service: Ok
SUCCESS
-----
Close NAS (Seagate?) Window (I see no "Save" or "Exit")
HDHomeRun Setup
Apply (did something)
OK
Closed HDHomeRun NAS Install (Selection) window

Did that work?

A Seagate NAS? Those are very old. Can you tell us the specific model number for your NAS?

I don't have a Seagate any longer but you used to have to do a manual install after one of its firmware updates. There have also been subsequent updates that changed some permissions to folders preventing the engine from writing there (you would need to manually set the permissions through ssh)

It looks like I got it ~ 2018-Jan The .pdf manual I have says
Seagate Personal Cloud Model: SRN21C

When I first installed it, I did it using the same
"HDHomeRun Setup"
....DVR
....NAS Install
as I just now did with the update. It did take me a number of tries. I think I hadn't done the SSH to create an HDHomeRun (User?) Directory. Ultimately I installed using the "NAS Install" button like the update.

If you think it's a NAS issue, is there one that I could get that might be (unofficially) supported?
