Issues with skipping ahead

Post by jbahlman@gmail.com »

I was trying the new skip ahead feature and noticed that sometimes when you let off it starts at the beginning of a show. It also is doing that if you just hit the regular skip button several times. It is very repeatable. If you keep pressing skip over and over it just keeps going back every few presses.

This is on a nvidia shield. One of my primes is 13267ed9. The other is 13263ed4. I have send diagnostics turned on.

Same experience here. The new "improved" method of scanning, skipping, fast forwarding, etc requires a sort of rhythmic process of right control individual taps with an ever so slight pause in between. Navigating to where you want to go by holding down the "button" is history. It's all incremental now. After clearing cache/data this worked on my 2015 Shield. What an improvement?

I am seeing some that it skips back sometimes when skipping ahead. While watching the football game last night, it occasionally would skip back about a minute instead of skipping forward.

I also noticed that when skipping ahead while watching something still recording it loses sync with the audio. It was very noticeable when watching football yesterday.

Anyone else having the issue with audio losing sync and the video skipping back while skipping ahead?
The skipping back issue isn't nearly as bad, but when i am skipping ahead in football, it will still skip back about 30 seconds or a minute sometimes.

I think what might be happening is that it lets you go past the current time in the show and either closes and goes back to the "recorded" shows list, or it skips back to some point before the current time.

Any chance this issue with skipping ahead could be causing my errors with "existing filed state =failed"?
I removed my main drive that was having those errors and now another drive is having the same issue. I had 3 or 4 shows recording last night and the only one that had the issue was the football game after i caught up to live and it screwed up the skipping ahead. I missed the whole second half because of this error. I normally don't try and watch any other shows while they are recording, so football and sometimes baseball i watch while the are still going, so that is why i think the skipping is the issue.

I purchased the new flex unit with 4 tuners, Nice. But then in trying to use the app in the Roku app I find out that Roku doesn't have full functionality. It does allow live viewing and can play recordings, just can't set up to record on it. When I press the skip >> it skips forward a little and each press skips forward a little more each time. When I press << to go back it actually still skips forward and not backwards. It would help if comments by users would id the app they are using. All said and done I think the apps for the HD are all meager in their functionality. I use the windows version and have played around with the Android version and while way better than the Roku app I think that the information both in organization, presentation and especially settings are anemic. There is a lot of stuff that is automatic so you don't have to think about it. But fast forward without preview? Can't look to see how much room is on the USB drive. Only a little ability to look at movies effectively on a certain channel. etc... So most likely the best way to use this is as a tuner hooked up to plex so that you do not need to use the app. I am sure the app will most likely be improved in the future but for now I think it stinks.
