I have several different Android devices, some Google Certified and some NOT, how do we get audio out of those devices?
What is the criteria to get audio from the ATSC streams, software or hardware?
Also, what is the status on closed captions?
Criteria for Android devices supporting audio?
Re: Criteria for Android devices supporting audio?
The Android TV device needs to have Atmos or AC4 support, or it needs to be HDMI connected to a TV, receiver, or sound-bar that has Atmos support.
If your Android TV device lists Atmos in the specs but you don't get audio please let us know and we will check.

Thank you, the Dolby Atmos was what I was looking for. I was aware of AC-4 being a criteria, but I saw in another thread you mentioned the Xiaomi Mi box working, and I was sure it did NOT support the audio AC-4 codec.

Re: Criteria for Android devices supporting audio?
I have a Mecool KM1 that is Google Certified and it shows Dolby AC-4 and Atmos in Dolby Digital Plus.
I am connected to a Yamaha RX-A880 AVR, but get no audio on the ATSC 3 channels.

I also have this Mecool on order, and it should also support the AC-4 audio codec. Would be nice if the audio on the ATSC 3.0 streams would work on this device.

Re: Criteria for Android devices supporting audio?
My Tivo 4k shows Atmos, but does NOT support the audio playing on a ATSC 3.0 stream.
Re: Criteria for Android devices supporting audio?
Try this, it worked on my Tivo Stream: go to settings, Device Preferences, Sound, then select Manual: Select which formats to use
You can leave all of the formats turned on.
This gets me audio on the ATSC 3.0 with my Atmos soundbar.

The Tivo is a little flaky about things. There's supposed to be a major update coming maybe next month.
