I agree, I get no decode on 153.1 WWHO this morning despite solid signal for that PLP. Since my signal is so marginal its tough for me to know if its a broadcast issue or a weak signal problem. But when I can start decoding nearby ATSC 1.0 signals and I can't decode the 3.0 equivalents I know something is wrong.

Columbus 104.1 has audio but no video on FireTV app. Anyone else having this issue? The other 3 channels work but breakup on some FireTV.
Re: ASTC 3.0 Columbus, Ohio - Jan 2021
Thanks for the test capture.
I made a recording of channel 104.1 from the capture. The recording plays ok in the HDHomeRun app on multiple platforms and plays ok using the Windows Movies & TV player.
VLC however doesn't like the recording and has picture corruption.
Is channel 104.1 playing ok in the HDHomeRun app?
Edit - I think I have identified what is tripping up VLC and Channels. Looking at options.

Re: ASTC 3.0 Columbus, Ohio - Jan 2021
I can view 153.1 through VLC (no audio, as expected), but no dice when I attempt to watch it on my Roku TV through the HDHomerun channel. The channel shows up in the channel list, but none of the ATSC3.0 stations have the associated icons unlike their ATSC1.0 counterparts. When I select 153.1, it takes me to the second screen which lists the programs, but on all the ATSC3.0 stations there is nothing listed on that screen so I can't watch the channel. Is the Columbus ATSC3.0 station sending out EPG? Maybe its a case of the channels not getting updated from the program information provider.
On an up note, the Roku Media Player plays the video of 153.1 just fine. Still no audio of course.

I haven't been able to test on the HDHomeRun app unfortunately. My HDHomeRun is connected to a raspberry pi which is acting as a wifi bridge, so it's on a different subnet. I don't have the ability to get ethernet to the location where the antenna and HDHomeRun are located. Because of this the HDHomeRun app is not able to find the tuner since I can't specify the IP address.nickk wrote: ↑Tue Jan 12, 2021 8:39 pm Thanks for the test capture.

I am unable to get usable video or sound on the Columbus ASTC 3.0 stations. I have tried Apple TV both Channels and HDHomerun, My iPhone & iPad Pro, HDHomerun app, and my Mac HDHomerun App. I have the latest firmware and apps. I'd be happy to send any debug info if that helps.
Re: ASTC 3.0 Columbus, Ohio - Jan 2021
It looks like this is working now, more or less. I added a HDHR5-4K device to my home network a couple of days ago and the 4 stations previously cited in this thread appear to be successfully broadcasting in ATSC 3.0 format. Video quality is great. Audio is stereo only. Not sure why. Is this simply part of where things are right now with the broadcasters or is this a problem on my end?

[removed by moderator - not the problem]

Re: ASTC 3.0 Columbus, Ohio - Jan 2021
It looks like the stations in central Ohio are indeed broadcasting 4K with 5.1 audio. I was getting stereo due to a configuration error on the device that used the SiliconDust tuner. Yep, a user error.
Re: ASTC 3.0 Columbus, Ohio - Jan 2021
Status now appears to be less clear. Sometimes the stations are up and broadcasting, sometimes not.
Re: ASTC 3.0 Columbus, Ohio - Jan 2021
For anyone following the central Ohio situation with ATSC 3.0, this is a brief summary of my experiences to date.
My setup:
- Antennas Direct Terrestrial DB8 antenna, located in the attic of my garage (over a decade old)
- Channel Master CM-7778V3 preamp (new)
- Channel Master CM-7777XMI power inserter (new)
- Channel Master CM-3414 distribution amp (new)
- Connects to 2 TVs, an FM tuner, and an HDHomeRun HDHR5-4K tuner (new)
- Everything is connected with RG-6 coax (a mix of old and new cable)
The HDHomeRun tuner displays signal strength as 100% on ATSC 1.0 and ATSC 3.0 channels. Signal quality is mostly 100% but some channels are as low as 92%. One of the TVs connected to the antenna is a Sony X900H with a built-in ATSC 3.0 tuner. That tuner was enabled last week with a firmware update. I've been hoping to get some time to compare the Sony to a TV fed by the HDHomeRun tuner but the stations aren't broadcasting reliably enough yet to do so.
But I will say that when it works, audio and video quality are very good. While it appears to be a work in progress, it's encouraging to see some progress and these early results.
