Recorded shows not appearing under the Recorded tab

For quite a while I have been having the problem of recorded shows not appearing under the Recorded tab. This is especially true of series recording ( nightly news and Meet the Press). The shows are recorded and can be found in their storage location just not within the HDHomerun program itself. Single saved programs like movies do not seem to have this problem. If you reboot Windows the recorded programs reappear in HDHomerun under the Recorded tab for a while and then they disappear again. So far I have not been able to discover any connected event that causes them to disappear.

Where are you saving the recordings? How is the drive connected? What filesystem is the drive formatted as (NTFS, exFAT, etc)? Keep in mind the engine can't reliably handle a remote share as you will encounter limitations like you described after getting to so many files/directories and that the drives and computer can't sleep.

It is very strange that they would disappear later but more understandable if just new recordings were not shown.

I am saving to an external USB3 drive. I could switch to an internal SATA drive If anyone has any rational reason to think that might solve the problem. I cannot think of any reason why this would help. I store many things on that drive and they continue to be accessible. I especially don't understand why this would only happen with the contents of subfolders of the HDHomeRun Recordings folder that contain recordings of series recordings and not subfolders of individual recordings.

Can you tell us your "Device ID" for one of your HDHomeRun units? I can look that up to see what the diagnostic data says for the DVR software.

I appear to be having the same issue on a Windows client for the first time AFAIK. I see the file on the server, which is growing in size.

I was on "early access" for the client, but I just turned it off and turned on diagnostics, then exited and re-opened the program.

Rebooting did not work for me. The computer in the other room actually wasn't showing the recording, either. I rebooted that as well.

I tried to play a stream in vlc using the link from my.hdhomerun.com -> recorder -> recorded files, but it does not list all the episodes, just Feb 3rd and older... not sure how the recorder posts that information via http, but perhaps it could be tangentially related?

I noticed other shows display the 4th or earlier, didn't see any episodes from today. But the show I'm looking for (Deadline White House) is showing episodes a day older.

I checked the time on the server (using date command) and it's correct.

lol. I just set up minidlna server on Ubuntu in case this happens again, and as soon as I started playing the episode I saw that it's shown up in HDHomeRun view now...
