I don't use the MS Store. Where else can I get the Win10 app?
I'm sure this question has been asked a dozen times but I had a hard time finding anything with my search.
Is the app required to take advantage of the guide that is offered for $35/year?
I just want the guide for my JRiver setup with an HDHomeRun tuner and don't need the HDHR DVR or service otherwise.
Where to get the Win10 app other than through the store?
Re: Where to get the Win10 app other than through the store?
If you have UWP sideloading enabled then the Windows installer will also install the Windows 10 app: https://download.silicondust.com/hdhome ... indows.exe
If you want to use guide data outside of the HDHomeRun app (and have 14 days of guide data), then you will need a DVR subscription for the XMLTV API to work.

That's great, thanks!NedS wrote: ↑Wed Sep 23, 2020 10:23 pm If you have UWP sideloading enabled then the Windows installer will also install the Windows 10 app: https://download.silicondust.com/hdhome ... indows.exe
Ahh, no I'm asking... do I need to install the Win10 HDHomeRun app in order to use the guide in JRiver?
I already know about the $35.
Re: Where to get the Win10 app other than through the store?
The HDHomeRun app itself would not be needed.

Thanks for the info!
I want to keep this particular PC as simple as possible.

This did not work. I've tried it now on two different Win10 PC's.NedS wrote: ↑Wed Sep 23, 2020 10:23 pm If you have UWP sideloading enabled then the Windows installer will also install the Windows 10 app: https://download.silicondust.com/hdhome ... indows.exe
I enable sideloading.
Reboot.
Open Powershell and install hdhomerun_windows.exe
And after the install is completed, I get a message saying something like "You'll need a new app to open this.... Windows Store".
And the viewing app has not installed, only the setup program has installed.
Any suggestions?

It might still need the MPEG2 codec download from the Microsoft Store. I'm not sure if there's a way to load that outside of the store.

Hopefully that helps.

Hey, thanks Martin. That did install the viewer for me.
It's not working, not playing/showing any channels. But at least it installed.
Now I know it's not something I'm doing wrong.
This is not a big deal for me so I'll wait for SiliconDust to fix their software install issues and perhaps that will also fix my playback issue.
If not then I can troubleshoot that another time.

Re: Where to get the Win10 app other than through the store?
Oops, I'm so sorry, you're right, that wouldn't be an issue because it was working earlier this year. Let me see what I can figure out using a fresh Windows install and trying to install the app without the Microsoft Store. I'll comb through the different old versions and find where it stopped working, and work with the dev team to see what changed.
Re: Where to get the Win10 app other than through the store?
We do provide the app on our website, as part of the HDHomeRun Windows Software installer.
The issue seems to be it isn't installing for you for some reason.
