OK, so the installations were needed, but I expect that one could delay the Windows restart to at least follow the second C++ package, if not the HDHR update as well. No? The way it stands, one is guided to 2 restarts and 3 launches of the HDHR installer, which seems not user friendly.

EDIT: I just re-ran the installer and chose "repair" which then ran the C++ (x86) installation and did not require any Windows restarts, so I probably jumped to the wrong conclusion about needing 2 Windows restarts originally. Nevertheless, I bet that presenting the user with the second C++ installation prompt after a restart, even though it's a slightly different graphic, will lead many folks to the same confused "smell a rat" feeling that I had.

Whether or not it needs a restart depends on whether anything it needs to update is in use at the time. You know how Microsoft is. There's no way our installer can predict beforehand if both, neither, or just one or the other will want a reboot, so we can't, for example, tell the 64 bit version to skip the restart but allow the 32 bit version to decide for itself, as that would result in not getting a reboot prompt at all. We also don't want to force a reboot in case neither needs it, because rebooting is the worst. The good news is that once it's installed it won't need to be installed again.

IMO, a user notice at the beginning of the installation that there may be up to 2(?) restarts to complete the job would be a good gesture.

I had done similar and it was extremely obvious that it was installing 64 bit and 32 bit VC++ as it flat out stated what was being installed
