Remote Control

Post by hotshot2k3 » Fri Nov 01, 2019 11:08 am

What does the SiliconDust team think about making their own remote control for the major streaming boxes?

Something very traditional that might bring alot more people into the cord cutting world. Some things that most streaming controllers are missing are Numbers, DVR button, Guide button, Info button, Favorites button
If you had a dedicated controller that make things super simple I think it would be a huge selling point for your future OTA and Cablecard tuning offerings. You would also be able to market it towards Amazon Fire TV Recast users

The shield and firetv have an option to pair a new controller.

I disagree, I do not think it would be worth the cost when there are many different remotes that could be mapped. why take focus away from other projects for that when it wouldn't be profitable?

A DVR optimized remote definitely has merit.
