While the latest update fixed FIOS 4K issues on my Android Tablet and Android Phone, it broke both of my Nexus Players when playing regular HD channels (these boxes are too old to play 4K channels). But my 3rd Android TV box, Mibox still works fine.
On my Nexus players, it will no longer play most of FIOS channels, cable or local broadcast. It will typically show the video for a brief second or so. Then switch to 'Unable To Play' black screen. Sometimes, it show 'Failed to play audio'. A few channels do play fine. But majority of channels don't play anymore. It sounds like another audio bug or something.
Diagnostics are turned on for one of my Nexus players.
Latest Android App update broke Nexus Player
Re: Latest Android App update broke Nexus Player
How is your audio device connected?
Android is reporting AC3 passthrough support but only supporting 2-speakers.
When in AC3 passthrough mode the app sends 5.1 channel AC3 to the output device and the output device will convert it to 2 channel if you only have 2 speakers connected.

It connects to a LG OLED TV which supports AC3. The problem exists whether I enable AC3 passthrough or not. I have another NP connects to the Samsung TV which also supports AC3. Same exact problem on both. Both works fine before this latest update. I know NPs don't support 4K channel playback. So, I didn't even bother for check the 4K channels. Only the regular HD channels.
I think a few channels that do work, in my case ch506 and 508, probably due to the fact that those channels only output 2-ch audio, not the typical AC3 5.1 audio found in other channels.
UPDATE: I turn off the AC3 passthrough and early access features and now all the channels work now. When this problem first showed up, I have these two settings OFF. Then I tried turn them on. Same problem. Now turn them off resolves the issue.
However, I remember previously I can leave the AC3 passthrough on without any issues. After all, it is up to the TV to deal with AC3 and how many speakers it has.

May be related to my jetstream issue... can't get it to reliably play longer than 5-10 minutes if early access is enabled. Works ar least 12+hours when disabled.
