Recording stops due to overheating

Post by Clayton » Thu Aug 15, 2019 4:20 pm

Recently all our DVR shows are cut off so I headed to the system logs. The HomeRun Extend is sitting on a desk under an LCD monitor so there should be plenty of airflow.

Hardware Model HDTC-2US
Firmware Version 20190621

20190805-20:50:10 Tuner: tuner0 streaming http to 192.168.1.201:58635
20190805-21:05:46 System: forcing standby overation due to high temperature

Anybody else seeing this problem?

Is is the new black metal plastic case or the old gray plastic case? If you're still using the old plastic case, the fan is probably dead. We offer a service where you can send in your old plastic case device and get back the fanless metal case version, which can be ordered through our shop at https://shop.silicondust.com/shop/produ ... e-upgrade/ .

We have an original gray unit. The fan is definitely dead! Was going to try replacing the fan itself but will opt for the fanless conversion.

I replaced all three of my fans with small old ati video card fans. Been years and no issues. I wanted to convert but didn't want to send them in to do it as is be out until they came back. Is there a way to just have the conversion hardware shipped to me?

No, the conversion also includes replacing a couple components on the board to optimize the power usage, so it's not something you can do on your own.
